I'm going to be up there visiting Mom in rehab (broken femur & scapula at age 80...) and my usual relatives will all be in Israel at a wedding, anything Mudcatesque going on?

Well, if you are hungry and in the area of College park at lunchtime, my friend Char and I will be testing out the recipes for the picnic lunch at my July wedding. Two possible Moroccan chicken recipes, two for Italian chicken, several vegetarian new-potato-pea-and chives dishes... It's not exactly core Mudcat, but we will probably sing while we work.

You are a bit early for the Smithsonian Folklife Festival on the Mall; that starts the 24th.

Wow - sounds like fun, and delicious! But I was thinking evening, as I usually have lunch with Mom and bring her something that isn't cooked in the house kitchen... she loves Moroccan, though, so I am tempted, sorely tempted!

It's kind of a quiet time locally. Folks are heading OUT to festivals and other vacations. As Lynn says, the Smithsonian festival is days later. When we were all younger...*grin*,,,we'd arrange a singing party at the drop of a hat. Are you gonna be staying right in DC?

Yes, I am on weekend duty. I am there every weekend but usually I have family - this weekend would be lonely without my usual family, so I was hoping to see some of y'all, my online family. I'll be in Northern VA, really, but in the DC area. Mom is on King Street in Alexandria near the TC Williams High School.

I spend all her awake time with her, then the rehab place throws me out. I'm free after 9 on Sat, in other words.
