We still have a few tickets left for Tommy's performance at the Lewes Saturday Folk Club on Saturday 12th. September. Tickets are £9 each. Doors open at 7.30 p.m.

If you'd like a ticket, please send a cheque payable to LEWES ARMS FOLK CLUB (that's right) to me at 20, St. John's Terrace, Lewes, BN7 2DL (mark your envelope TOMMY PEOPLES TICKET) and the ticket will be held for you on the door. Please collect it by 7.45 p.m.

Tommy's all-day workshop is sold out, but we are keeping a waiting list in case of last-minute cancellations. Let me know if you'd like to go on the list. There are still places available for his half-day workshop and evening performance at Littleborne in Kent on Sunday 13th. September for Fiddlers Various .

Thanks, Dick. Running on a Saturday night does mean that we've got the daytime to use; we sometimes use Sundays as well, as we did a couple of weekends ago when Kerr Fagan Harbron taught five workshops for us in two days. We had 65.5 people in the workshops (the .5 was someone who could only manage half a day, he didn't expire half-way through) and 78 people in the club for their Saturday evening performance.

We haven't got particularly special qualities: anyone could do it if they are prepared to put in the graft (of which there is a lot; we do it for love of the music).

Tommy's workshop will be our 116th.

Booking is now open. Last time Tommy came we had a huge waiting list, so early booking is essential to avoid disappointment. Tommy performs at the Lewes Saturday Folk Club in the evening; advance tickets are available at £9 each (see booking form below).

TOMMY PEOPLES FIDDLE WORKSHOP

            Tommy Peoples is, quite simply, a living legend, the greatest exponent of the driving Donegal style which is his hallmark. A founding member of the Bothy Band, his 1999 solo CD The Quiet Glen earned him his country's highest accolade as 'Musician of the Year', the first person to be so honoured by the Irish Government.           The workshop will concentrate on ornamentation & bowing. Questions will be welcome.

Tommy will teach some unusual tunes. He will either do the notation on the day or bring copies of a choice of tunes.
