And the vast majority serve small portions (sometimes large portions) of tapas free with a drink. This goes for the whole province, not just Granada city. These obviously vary. But you may hear "una primera" (one first course) as you order a drink. Sometimes the quality of these tapas increases as you stay in a bar. I have never really worked out if this is accidental or not. Some bars now "bluetooth" orders so you may not hear the cry! You will be extremely lucky to see non-touristy flamenco because it does not exist in the society you are likely to mix in. You might try "El Yunque", Plaza San Miguel, which used to be owned by a singer - I am not sure if it still is. I used to drink in a bar in Almunecar where I lived and was lucky enough to see a lot - it is where the local gypsies played. But I had an "in" to that society by virtue of residence and it was my second home. Otherwise try any Irish bars. |

However the Tapas is extremely good, esp in La China, situated at the west end of the Almunecar seafront. You need to drink fast to keep up with the Tapas.J.R.'s also on the front is excellent plus you do get visits from strolling players. To be honest you can't go far wrong anywhere in Granada province. |
