Subject: RE: Lyr Req: A' Challuinn (New Year's Day) From: George Seto - af221@chebucto.ns.ca Date: 18 Jun 09 - 09:24 PM I just checked my Gaelic Songs index and it's on page 204. So, I'll try to type it up when I get the book out. |
Subject: RE: Lyr Req: A' Challuinn (New Year's Day) From: George Seto - af221@chebucto.ns.ca Date: 18 Jun 09 - 09:18 PM I think one version of it is in the Helen Creighton book, Gaelic Songs of Nova Scotia. Will look for my copy of it. |
Subject: Lyr Req: A' Challuinn (New Year's Day) From: GUEST,Marian Date: 18 Jun 09 - 03:17 PM Could someone help me out with the lyrics to the traditional Scottish Gaelic New Year's song "A' Challuinn"? I know two recorded versions of it, one by 'A girl with her friends' on the Smithsonian Folkways album SONGS FROM CAPE BRETON ISLAND (1955) and the other by Heather, Cookie, and Raylene Rankin on their Christmas album DO YOU HEAR... (1998). The Rankin CD is out of print, however, and I only have the Smithsonian Folkways version as an .mp3 download from eMusic, so if the lyrics were printed in the liner notes for either album, I unfortunately do not have access to them. Thank you in advance for your help! |
