At our new venue of The Pack o' Cards in Combe Martin, Shammick Acoustic's next guests - on Saturday 27th June - are Pete Harris & Hugh Budden, an absolutely excellent blues duo from the deep south – of England, that is. Pete has been a guest at the club before in another guise, as accompanist to Mick Ryan. His other persona is a blues guitarist, having gigged extensively in the UK and Europe, performed on stage with many American blues artists and appeared on TV and radio. His partner in crime on this occasion is Hugh Budden, whose versatility and sheer brilliance on harmonica has given him a reputation as one of the best. His career has spanned the spectrums of both music and continents, and he has developed a highly individual style of playing. Both have the benefit of strong voices, and present a wide range of blues styles, from Chicago to R&B. Together, they will give us a fantastic blues night not to be missed!

Hope we might see some of you there. For more information about the club, go to the website

One of our most versatile performers, Don't miss Pete.
Here is a link to a track from a Forest Tracks CD of Pete accompanied on harmonica by Marc Houghton.

I haven't heard Hugh Budden yet but he must be the best to be playing alongside Pete.

If you rate Pete as a blues man, Andy, you really should try to get hold of the CD that he and Hugh produced. It's absolutely stunning! I've seen him with Marc, and I reckon this guy's even better.

I must own up to a vested interest here. I was one of the original team that started Forest Tracks nearly 30 years ago. Pete and Marc are on our label.

We also released an L.P.(remember them?) of the Bob Pearse Blues Band, who Pete went on to play with some time later. He then of course started the Pete Harris Blues Band.

Coombe Martin isn't all that far from Croyde Bay I think. We stayed there in Downend House, which overlooks the bay, for 14 years on the trot until the owner died.

Indeed it's not far - but I'm sure you could find other places in N. Devon that are worth staying at - and you could visit Shammick Acoustic at the same time...
