Subject: ADD: Willie the Pen From: GUEST,Evan johnson Date: 22 Aug 13 - 08:33 AM WILLIE THE PEN (Songwriter ?) CHORUS I'm Willie the pen, I'll say it again. I'm a part time up and coming writer, known by critical acclaim (give me the money) I'm Willie the pen or bill the quill whatever you will. An 'orse and 'orse my kingdom for an 'orse, there's a lovely line and no mistaking, Think I'll use it in a play I'm making up All about the wicked life and times of Dicky the third, I heard he was a wily bird, Locked the little prices in the tower, that's the stuff to give em nowadays, what a lovely plot think i'll write it while it's hot. CHORUS I see a set and there is Juliet standing on the balcony above us waiting for the comfort of her lovers arms, a little bit of sin, sure to pack em in. CHORUS As performed by Johnny Silvo |

Subject: RE: Lyr Req: Bill the Quill? / Willie the Pen? From: GUEST,Ronnie andrews...hootenanny, Nairobi Date: 14 Feb 13 - 09:58 AM Jonny and Dave used to come to Nairobi to play in a grill room and always came to our folk club...The Hootenanny, which still plays today as a group. They did Willie and somehow I recalled the lyrics about Richard III, all the more relevant today after they salvaged him from a parking lot outside a pub where he'd been clamped! Grateful for the lyrics...its in the next show! Where are they both now? |

Subject: RE: Lyr Req: Bill the Quill From: John Wood Date: 26 Oct 09 - 06:07 PM Hi.My wife and I just did a charity gig with Johnny Silvo in Mawgan Porth,Cornwall on Thursday.I remembered this thread and asked him about the song. It's actually called ''Willy the Pen'' and was written specially for Johnny who released it on the''B'' side of a single.I think it was ''Easy rider'' on the ''A'' side. Was writen I think he said by Mich Murry and another guy. Ashamed to say I sneak videoed it but don't tell anyone. Greetings Oslo John |
Subject: RE: Lyr Req: Bill The Quill From: GUEST,Jacqued Date: 25 Jun 09 - 04:32 AM Graham, you're a star! Johnny will not be back at our club again until his annual visit next year - but I'll remember to add my tu'pence worth to yours! J |
Subject: RE: Lyr Req: Bill The Quill From: GUEST,Graham Bradshaw Date: 25 Jun 09 - 04:10 AM No, it's not Adam McN's Three minute Hamlet. This is sung by Johnny Silvo, but not sure who wrote it. It doesn't appear to be on any of his albums. Will suggest he puts it on the next one when I next speak to him. G |
Subject: RE: Lyr Req: Bill The Quill From: GUEST,Jacqued Date: 24 Jun 09 - 03:07 PM Thanks, Peace, but I am sure it is not 'The Three Minute Hamlet'. |
Subject: RE: Lyr Req: Bill The Quill From: Peace Date: 24 Jun 09 - 02:36 PM Jacqued: Check with Seamus Kennedy. He may know more about it. If you cannot reach him via Mudcat, try a message thru his MySpace site. |
Subject: RE: Lyr Req: Bill The Quill From: GUEST,Jacqued Date: 24 Jun 09 - 02:31 PM A subversive at the club now tells me Johnny Silvo does a storming version of this! But that it hasn't been recorded. Ring any bells? Jacqued |
Subject: RE: Lyr Req: Bill The Quill From: Joe Offer Date: 24 Jun 09 - 11:55 AM Hi, Jacque- I was thinking of the Adam McNaughtan songs like Oor Hamlet, but that doesn't seem to be a match to what you're seeking. Here's the final chorus, anyhow: Hamlet, Hamlet, all that gory, Hamlet, Hamlet, end of story, Hamlet, Hamlet, I'm on my way, And if you think that that was boring - You should read the bloody play. Good luck finding what you're looking for. If you find it before we do, please post it here. -Joe- |
Subject: Lyr Req: Bill The Quill From: GUEST,Jacqued Date: 23 Jun 09 - 03:20 PM T'other evening I heard a chappie sing a take-off song about William Shakespeare and it was hilarious! Through the laughter I remember memorable lines like "a norse, a norse, my kingdom for a norse!" and "Bill the Quill". Can anyone offer the rest of the words, please 'cos the culprit got away before I could collar him! Many thanks, Jacqued |
