Not for the 1st time that has happened It buckled the tin and I had to sling it away. Thats steam baking out the window.I have to bake it instead. I will cook a large Roast Beef on the Thursday the same way I cooked the Lamb back in June. I know we do not have a septmber dinner but maybe once cooked I can curry it with some rice or maybe even do a proper roast dinner with all the Veg and Roast Potatoes. How do you make a spotty dick. I am now doing vegetarian again. a bit of detox. no meat, reduced sugar, salt, white flour, and butter. it is easier in the summer. but I expect by September I could tuck into a roast. If it is planned for Saturday nioght, I will happily bring and prep some vegetables. May even bring another roast to add to PlC's, if he will share some of his lovely herbs. I didn't think you could do a spotted dick on a fire. No way to control the temperature. I suppose it could be made in advance scooped into muffin tins wrapped in foil to reheat. |

Tell you what I will cook three roasts. like I did the Lamb last June but I will endeavor to do Beef Lamb and Chicken you bring the Vegetables. I know a sound and cheap butcher who delivers to me door. Heat on a open fire is controlled by height and heat. in a WIND free environment. pretty difficult at Knockers with all the Real Ale lot. I only drink Real Ale now at Good Intent. A spotted Dick could be done over embers. I am going to try bread too. If Cave man cooked it that way,so can I . I will have to start cooking the above long before you get to the field VT and I will season with Mint Sage Onion . Garlick corriander and that all that Jazz. Maybe richard will bring some of his yum yum Moroccan rocket fuel Harrisa Sauce for those that want the above with Rice. any one else wanna jump on the band wagon they can provide wine..beer. we wont be able to do this once the fire lighted so I suggest eating time to be around 1800 Hrs. |

Subject: RE: Knockholt Forever Autumn From: Lady Raffles Date: 06 Jul 09 - 04:51 AM I made bread rolls once at Knockholt, I wrapped the dough in loose parcels of greased and floured silver foil, leaving enough room for the bread to expand and placed them around the edge of the fire just outside of the embers and they cooked beautifully in about 15 minutes, I might have a go at that again, I'm also looking out for another clay chicken brick (can't remember the correct name for it) at boot sales. The first time I cooked a chicken in one of those on the camp fire it was delicious, stuffed full of fresh herbs and lemon and then I sealed the two halves of the brick together with flour and water to stop the ash getting in, but the second year I tried it the pot broke into pieces still it's worth having another go. |

My friend will deliver meat to my home but not to Knockholt. So it will have to be a shop on the friday to Green St Green ,which me and White haired Richard do anyway each Knockholt. we usually bum a lift of someone. Linda last time. Im glad I buried and hid all my cooking tins in Dead tree copse back in june so i can dig them up and wash them and reuse. We tangined the Lamb last time so this time I suggest the Beef. They do have bovines in Morroco I take it? But the marinate choice is open . he can curry and slice the other meats to suit others tastes. I dont want another marinate parlava like last time despite it all worked out great in the end. |

If we are gong to tagine as such rather than marinade meat and cook as joint (there goes that word again, Debs) then the choice of vegetable and fruit becomes tricky. I'd still go for carrot but I've gone off courgette in tagines and I am not keen on aubergines although I suspect that they grow OK if well watered in north Africa. I'm not sure what other firm root veg would suit. I have seen recipes using sweet potato, so does anyone know whether they are native to Africa? I associate them with the West Indies. THe other favourite to add to beef tagines seems to be prunes or prune juice, but with only a few portapotties that might be unwise! So, tentatively, if tagining, it might be worth thinking about beef, usual spices and harissa, carrots and sweet potatoes. Has anyone got access to an ethnic shop (usually Indian) that sells saffron in large bags at cheap prices (like the market in Jerusalem does)? The lump we put in last time would probably have been a tenner in teh supermarket? Or shall we not do it as tagine on fire? |

I have a recipe for a West Indian beef curry with apricots in and it works really well. Found this on a website about North African cooking:- "Most of the vegetables used are familiar from other Mediterranean cuisines although North African recipes tend to make much greater use of aubergine and courgette than their neighbours across the water. Carrots and peppers also feature heavily as do many pulses such as chickpeas and lentils and grains including millet and the aforementioned couscous. Dried fruits, particularly apricots and dates also feature in many North African recipes. Preserved lemon is a particular regional speciality, prepared in a solution of salt and lemon juice, which can add a zingy citrus kick to any dish." All sounds fab to me!!! I am happy to contribute anything that can be bought at Tesco (which I will be visiting on my way to Knockholt on the Friday afternoon/evening. |

Just depends whether you're happy with that kind of approach. It is very traditional of course... The flavour will be affected, but I can't see it being a conflict in a highly spiced sauce. |

How about postulating a tribe of Christian Bedouin (or one of the lost ten tribes) who of course could drink alcohol, and marinading the beef by coating with Harissa paste and then soaking for a couple of days in a couple of bottles of cheap red plonk - with another tablespoon of Harissa paste dissolved in the red plonk? THen sear teh beef, fry the onions, add the ginger, and oranges or maybe some substitute, and cover with the red wine again and simmer for an hour before adding the carrots (maybe sweet potatoes too) and other spices (but probably no more harissa paste at that stage) then chick-peas and simmer for another hour to thicken and finally add the olives and either courgettes or aubergine for th last 20 minutes? |

It might warrant a wee bit of research though. I'd probably still be inclined to put a handful of salt in for good measure, but of course spices, salt, sugar, alcohol inter alia, are all traditional kitchen preservatives for meat. Hence of course 'preserves' such as Mincemeat.. Your harissa paste I am certain, no doubt originates from the exact same style of kitchen pragmatism & household welfare as Christmas 'spiced beef'. |

Richard there is a family butcher that can provide all in 3 Meats in Green St Green. He is up the top of the High Street just past the pub near to where that caravan place used to be . I do not mind buying the meat and if I got it from there on the Friday I could marinate the Beef with your Sauce. You will be on site to oversee and then Lady Raffles could put it in her fridge over night. Lady Raffles it will be a large lump of Beef will it not take up to much room in your fridge. Im also concerned that Caspar dog may take the fridge to pieces in order to get to it? alternately it could be kept in a cold box for one night. Richard we will cook the Beef Harrisa on the saturday after being marinated all night friday . I will cook the Lamb and Chicken Saturday too. I like the ideas of Naughty forty and crows sister re Bread Sue can do some bread and I will do some Herbie Flat breads on heated flat trays. Vt can you do the veg I can steam them or you can boil them on site or from home. Just out the ordinary Roystone. I used to know a Vampire who lived in a big old house in Chislehurst Road near the pond. She was a regular visitor to the Caves. which is where I met her. She had her teeth filed into Fangs and wore some lovely Victorian costumes which cost her Hundreds of pounds, she was a very nice weird eccentric women. In day time she was a bus conductor on the 161 bus which goes to show how long ago this was? She was quite a Charactor she had two Bloodhounds called Zoltan and Boris. |

Lots of historical, mythological and scientific information as well as diagrams of constellations. It was recommended by astronomy professor to supplement my book collection as a primary school teacher. Just wonderful. BTW TheSilentOne took a degree in astronomy from University College London, way back in the day. Must make mental note to get away from fire and look at sky for a while as Mick recommends. Would do that in Scotland next 2 weeks, but the sky will be too light to see anything. |

But Annie decides to park her car on top of a rock that is sticking out the ground and the whole Engine block is resting on it the front wheels were off the ground,How they manage to park the car in the first place without tearing the engine out is quite beyond me. anyway when it time to go they get in there car put it into gear and Annie puts her foot on the gas and the front wheels start spinning round but the car wont move. where they have parked on top of this rock. between me and Pat and a couple of others we picked the car up and placed it back on the ground. The thing that made me laugh was both sisters sat in the car while we did the lifting has if it was back breakingly heavy enough. No Woodsie you were not there we found you at the bus stop asleep. we put you in Pats car they dropped me off and took you home. That was indeed one of the funniest nights I have had in Donkeys years. Im now nursing a bloody great hangover and got to go to work , |

I staggered out of the club and stumbled across the Calamity (not the Car.) I approached the parlava When I looked under the Car it was resting quite Squarely on a flat topped rock and the front wheels were some 4inches off the ground. Faye then without warning me mind,pressed on the Gas again and and the free spinning dirvers side wheel,nearly took me head off? Its a good thing I have Alien like lightening reflexes. Whereby I told her to turn the F.....g engine off. By this time more folk had arrived on the sceane and it was quickly decided that the only way to get the girls moving was to physically lift the Car off the Rock. Which we all did with both occupants still in the Car,They did not think to get out and make the task somewhat lighter and I admit no one thought of telling them to get out. My Backbone nearly came out me Arse lifting that car. The flat top Rock still remains half buried in the Car park. The whole thing was made twice has complicated because I was in fitts of laughter through out the whole Fiasco. |

But Brian has a phobia of dogs so care would need to be taken if they came. My gut feeling is that what Crow Sister is on about is "harmonising on the fly" rather than the arranged set piece. I still had no apricots, so I added tinned peaches, and reheated for an hour, and it was close. It is also possible to overdo the ginger. And breast of lamb is not so good. I thought it would be fine (and cheaper) but it isn't as good as shoulder. Brian and Marion have a very superior caravan, but no, I don't think they have been to Knockers. |

Anyway for some reason when the horse got level with our picnic table by the doors of the pub it got quite spooked and started backing off . The young girl in the saddle clearly could could have kicked that horse to her heart was content there was no way that horse was gonna walk on by that pub.. well the situation was worsening for the poor girl in the saddle fore suddenly the creature shot in to full reverse and headed straight for our table back end first.. We all grabbed our beers. but remained seated. Well this horse backed straight into our picnic table and knocked the umbrella over. all the time the girl was kicking and trying to pull its head round. I stood up and said to the Girl clutching me beer. Do you want me to take the lead love. Whereby Brian piped up. 'Take the lead what you gonna do Pete dance with it. I said Ignore him do you want me to take the lead and walk him on. She said yes Please. Whereby the beast trod onme bloody foot with all its dancing about.., so i took the reins just under the bit and said come on mate walk on. Well the horse was still dancing about but I managed to get him back on the road whereby he seemed to calm. He was quite Spooked. Ever that or he wanted a pint anyway. the girl asked if I would walk him a bit further down the lane and said then she should be alright to go on alone. Still clutching me pint I walked with horse and all down to the next bend in the road and let them go there merry way. Unknown to me quite a gathering had assembled at the windows in the Tally Ho and watched all this take place and when I got back to the pub everyone said well done and one chap even brought me a pint. Well when all had returned to normal and people had gone back to there seats and the Parlava was all over I went into the Tally ho to buy a round and the Bar maid said to me. 'I saw all that earlier, your quite good with horses.I said not that good love he trod on me bloody foot. She said I have a Horse in the next field up the lower lane I ride past all you lot camping up the top field. She said do you ride I said I used to but I have not for years. She said you can have ago on mine. I dont believe she ment it but it was a nice offer and I have not forgotten it. And thats the story of the bar maids horse. |

Numbers increase has the days go by. We start on the Wednesdayand finish on the Sunday the dates for the next event are listed on the above threads. We do charge for camping. See site listed below. In the evening we sit around a bonfire and sing songs. Basically when the stick comes to you can can sing or simply pass it on to the next person. There is a field. toilets. and a Pub and thats it.Its located on one of the highest spots in glorious Kentish country side better known has the Garden of England. The main body of folk that attend come from the Eltham Folk Mob Folk Club in Eltham south east London. Go to folkmob.com if you are interested in joining us. There are other folk from other clubs and Morris men/women from the medway towns of North Kent.Its a great four day event if you dont mind roughing it putting up with gale force winds and driving rain. And like Beer? when the weather is fine at Knockholt it is glorious which for much of the 7 years and 14 times I have attended it has been. The harissa is re-adjusted and is more, but not completely, like the second batch from last year. I will chase Blossom about the wine for the marinades. Doesn't pavlova demand meringue? If so that demands stable and controlled low heat for 24 hours (the way my mother used to do it, in the airing cupboard) and that is not going to be practical at Knockers. It also does nothing for me and I am NOT going to be traditional English and make fruit crumble and custard or spotted dick and custard (much as I love them). The custard HAS to be returned to the saucepan for double-thickening. Birds, not the poncy stuff. |

Need to make a several layered egg carton like container. Kind of fancying fresh banana bread (also made with pecans) too. So may bring a couple of loaves to share. Lovely slices warmed, melting butter and cup of coffee for breakfast. |

But it had not lost tension and clearly did not break. When i looked closely at the Nut I notice that a tiny Gnats cock piece of the nut had broken off the side and at at the string groove to boot? That is with out doubt what caused the string to slip off. I loosened the G string in question and when i looked closely at the nut I could still see the line of the string groove really only a fractioned of the edge of the groove had gone. So I got me a hand held mini grinder and worked out the string grove until the string would sit there has prior to this par-larva happening. I then tuned up the Mandolin and HEY PRESTO it Tuned perfectly and sounded great has before . I know I should change the Nut but I have just paid to have it set up and if I replace the Nut it will throw everything out. What do you think folks change the Nut (More Expense) Or leave it alone and see what happens? I was bringing it to Knockers but the likely hood of it happening again puts me off. |

Do a search first. I suspect Brian re-cut your original plastic nut, rather than make a new one. The cheapest fix will be a tiny hole drilled with a pillar drill and a tiny pin through it. I have in the past rebuilt nuts with glues and epoxies (also cheap if DIY but time consuming), but it is not a good way. |

I played the Mandolin this morning for an hour and the grove that i very carefully re-cut seems to be holding out? The end of the nut looks a bit like a broken tooth but Im satisfied that the mandolin tunes ok and that the action Brian set up has not been affected by my workmanship. Having never attempted such a repair i am quite pleased with me self. I cant do nothing about it until after Knockholt whereby I will go and see brian. I was hoping to get my nice little traveling guitar set up next by Brian but that goes to the back of the queue now the mandolin comes first. I have only been playing the Mandolin for 8months now and progress is slow but im getting used to the strings and can pick through a number of different scales and the chords are now simple. There are 3 things about a mandolin I have learned,1) There bloody temperamental. 2) they like to be played every day or they sulk. 3) They are very highly strung and tend to have break downs without warning Ie like my just did. Bloody parlarva. |

What else were you putting in the marinade, Pete? Shall I put a tbsp of harissa in there to soak in, or will you play clever buggers with it after I arrive? It will need carving off the bone after it thaws right through (probably some time on Thurs). |

One has to be extremely careful with your Harissa paste indeed a bit like working with explosives. but its a nice paste and it mellows after a couple of hours I mean minutes. this is your baby really and it was lovely last time . You added Apricots last time. this time maybe, beaten lemons and limes maybe in with the lamb and a bit of Mint. Apricots too. I will have most herbs at knockholt both straight out the garden and also my own dried herbs and my herb shelf indoors. "oh bye the bye one other herb "which is a personal herb to be kept discreet and at arms length."? |

Re wind If that is the case nearer the time I think it would be some what foolhardy to put up the Marquee. there again it will be up prior to Saturday anyway for the feast. Sitting round a camp fire would be near impossible. Playing and singing well that would be comical in regards to singing and playing in a Gale force wind and I hope Fisheye films it for the DVD files. I would certainly shell out £4.50p to see a DVD of John Barden,s Ride On (with full circle participation} in a gale force wind. Anyway there is sod all we can do about it but wait and see.it was very gusty last year and pissed with rain to boot but it was also quite suuny at times too. |

While we were in France half our plum tree fell down due to the bumper crop of fruit on it so I'll be stuffing the chickens with fresh herbs, lemon and garlic then smoking them over plum wood. I can do that on Thursday and Saturday and maybe leave the bread rolls and chocolate banana's for Saturday when I'll have more preparation time (we won't be arriving on Thursday until about 5pm) If anyone feels like picking some blackberries, there should be loads in the hedges around the field and also in Stonings Lane then I don't mind stewing them on the Thursday evening and we can have them with a couple of ready made flan cases and cream. |

I like to be there by 11oclock latest so we can get set up and then set off to Pub. Richard do you know what time roughly you will be getting to the field Wednesday? I will have all the meats early Tuesday and stick them in my freezer, I will buy from my mate who delivers frozen but they will need your cool box come Wednesday evening . The routine of going down the pub on the wednesday is not a problem for it closes for some reason at 3oclock so we be back on the field by 4 considering picking Blackberries on the way back up. Lady Raffles I will take a bucket with me every time I go to the Tally Ho and pick Blackberries on the way down and on the wobbly wobbled way back up again. The amount of times me and Woodsie walk down that lane to the pub you can rest assured the bucket will be full to over flowing by Thursday night. |

It is about a certain point of view which is taken by some people regarding people of colour, people's sexuality or their religion. There are bigots out there who are trying to use folk music to further their fascist agenda, so in that sense it is not political. I will be harping on about this at Knockholt, and if it's not wanted, then I won't come - plain and simple. As soon as people feel they are being pressured to 'sign up' there will be automatic reaction against that pressure, and that won't be positive for the cause in any way. Better to tread gently with contentious issues I think, in order to prevent rejection of the whole issue. This doesn't prevent individuals 'flying their own flags' so to speak. Or indeed arranging an informal discussion amongst those already on board, and possible interested others. |

I only have three holidays a year and Knockholt is based around two of those three. I personally go to Knockholt for the players and singers and above to join in have a good time. We all look after our self's we cook for each other and entertain each other. with song and music. That is what makes Knockholt unique, I personally know two people who are so far not coming to Knockholt due to clashing political opinion . Its having a effect already on the event and it has not even started yet. 10 years ago i was severely beaten had broken teeth in my mouth and a busted nose due to a comment I made in a pub in Eltham regarding a statement I made to a bunch of racist thugs. my glasses wont sit on my face they keep slipping down over my nose due to the dent left in my nose by a fist. and it is a constant reminder. "All the more reason to rally around I hear some say. No not at all you were not standing in my shoes you folk were not having bits of teeth extracted from your Jawbone over three weeks of harsh dental treatment at Guys hospital. The incident has not changed my views on racism I hate it. I refuse to post further on this subject has I think it is being watched and monitored by just the people we are protesting against. if you wish too reply please PM me. At present I am still looking forward to going to KNOCKHOLT a event run by Folkmob the club I attend in Eltham. I put it too you how many attended the launch of Folk against Fascism at Sidmouth. Oh how the expectation from previous times have changed! This "get together" was started about 20 years ago by a few people - Anthony who is Sue's Brother, Sue and myself and it was essentially a family gathering that we gradually invited our folk friends to join. It has I feel always retained a happy and easy going sort of atmosphere and that is how it should continue. I don't agree with extreme right wing views, I don't agree with racism, in fact there are lots of things that I do not agree with. Myself and Sue have put a lot of time and effort into Knockholt over the years and I still believe that the consensus of opinion is that politics and religion should be left at the gate. Sometimes a few spontaneous disagreements will erupt and it is normal that a group of adults will not always agree. I do however feel uncomfortable with any pre meditated desire to try and change the pattern and focus of a much loved bi- annual meeting. So please, all are welcome but lets try and make it a worthwhile weekend where everyone can enjoy themselves. Mick. |

His post above expresses concern that "Folk against Fascism" (which by its nature is intended to resist the arrogation of folk for political purposes, by fascists) should be gagged. There is some right-wing folk and neofolk (but not much): Peter Bellamy did some, Harvey Andrews "the Soldier" is accounted that way by some, Chalky White's singing of some military songs could be viewed that way, and there is the output of David Hannam and pals. Oh, I know of a couple of anti-union songs that Simon Barlow sings. But AFAIK there is not much more. The only racist folk songs I know are very old and stem from a period regrettably when antisemitism was an everyday part of England, and they are few. There is some gung-ho Americana. Most of the body of 1954 folk and neofolk is robustly leftist, the former rejoicing in the small triumphs of man over master (despite ostensible forelock-tugging), and the latter the liberation of man from master. This is not a body of work that it apt to be occupied, as the BNP writings set out as a plan, by racists, to use as a banner for white supremacists. In that sense, the "Folk against Fascism" slogan is perfecly just, and reflects (but more politely) the insignia on Woody Guthrie's guitar "This machine kills fascists". It is a great deal less antisocial than putting golliwogs on the fire. It seems to me that if, as I understand it still to be the case, Folkmob no longer subsidises the event, the only people with the standing to say what may or may not (or should or should not) be said or done are Mick and Sue. You should see the drafts I prepared (no charge) of what a prudent lawyer should impose as "site rules" to see how far such rules should extend, but they go a great deal further than teh Folkmob diversity policy - which WOULD preclude some of the things I have heard said at Knockholt. It is then up to potential attendees to decide whether they will attend and comply - or not. If it be the case that Sue and Mick's rules preclude the wearing of FaF t-shirts or bannering ones vardo or bender with a FaF banner, then there will be a number who will face a decision whether to attend or not. |

Mick Ford came over and said someone was complaining about it so it was turned down. Richard Bridge could have approached me himself at the time or after and I would have said sorry but he never did. That night in the marquee I was astonished to hear Richard Bridge launch a diatribe against "Chavs" or maybe it was "White Chavs" in which he proceeded to vilify a whole section of society, because, in my opinion, they have not been gifted with the same academic ability, educational opportunities or social upbringing as himself. Maybe the whole thing was clandestinely directed at me-I do not know. The allegation of calling someone a "Diddy" is not correct. I am not familiar with the term Diddy or Dids and never said it. What Richard Bridge is referring to is the word "Pikey". What was said was not meant to be insulting or malicious. I innocently thought I was involved in a bit of light hearted banter with someone. The comment was said, as I believed, in a tongue in cheek jocular manner. I had no intention of it being anything other than that. Ironically I found I enjoyed Richard's performances most of all and I was looking forward to hearing Richard Bridge again - even after reading his comments after the June Knockholt. Unfortunately I will not be there to see it, not because of threats of banners on the gate or tee shirts being worn or baseball bats but because the fun as now been taken from it for me. Hopefully Roberta will change her mind and go. It's been a sad thing to see this unfold and I don't bare any animosity to anyone, not even to Richard Bridge. My son Gavin has decided to give this knockholt a miss. It was to be his first knockholt . Last weekend when he came to stay with me he was asking endless questions and was quite excited about he whole thing. He having read this thread, phoned me up this morning and said dad I think I will give Knockholt a miss this time and go in June next year. In the stead he has decided to go to paint ball with his friends. I did not push the issue because has a 19 year old I believe he should choose what he wants to do and above all be final about it. The people who give me a lift to knockholt are also not going which means I shall now have to travel by public transport to get to the field which can be done and done many a time before but it will not enable me to get to the field early enough to make sure the Porta loos are placed where they should be and make sure the fire is ready for lighting for the Wednesday night . I doubt I will be at the field much before 1300hrs now. Finally Chrissey my Polish friend wants to come on the Saturday. But I have decided I am going to pack up and leave the field before the Saturday night starts for I have to go to work on the Sunday so I must get home in order to make that arrangement So No chrissey wont be coming. |

It's a bummer that this subject was ever raised here in the first place, and equally unfortunate that RB's (not very helpful admittedly, but equally totally throwaway IMO) comments posted elsewhere, have now been dragged onto here too (instead of such personal grievances having been dealt with privately). But for what it's worth, I really don't believe RB was on a personal mission of vendetta in this matter regards Knockholt, for enough of us already independently supported the (IMO laudable) principles of the FaF campaign (as indeed I will continue to do). So, let those who wish to support FaF, do so. Let those who choose to support the BNP, do so likewise. And let those who want to be fecked off, be fecked off - it's still a free fecking country after all! It changes colour from dark Green to light pink and it lovely with Honey.Its full of Iron and is very good for your liver.(hence I have been drinking no end of it) I have mastered the art of making it and I ,ll make some at Knockers. Also Nettles are nice boiled has a vegtable side dish like one would boilED Cabbage and it taste is quite similar to Kale. I will let you know when I make it(I,ll put a banner up)only joking) so you can sample it if one wishs to. |

You hit the hedgerows with two bags on each arm. One used to grasp the tops from inside the placcy bag. The other to stuff full of greens. Saute green tops in butter - or put in colander, rinse and bung in pan to steam in own moisture. Eat like Spinach (which means to me, bung a poached egg on it!) |

And tender nettle leafs, I suggest, goes into any side veg dish to. Throw in some butter and a bit of Garlick and Bobs your Uncle. The Nettle will only sting from the stem which is worse because the stinging cells atre longer and the leaf eadges. If you place you thumb and finger on the flat of the leaf they wont sting. Right sod nettles some thing much more interesting. My Blood blister which is cockney slang for sister has given me a bottle of Christmas Cracker. It comes in a funny bottle and has 37%Alc Vol. its a burgandy Red colour and has lots of bits floating about in it. Does anyone know what it is and above what it tastes like? My present plans are (a bit like "eats, shoots, and leaves") are to arrive Weds AM and plan and/or foodshop with Pete, go to a Davey Rumsey gig in Maidstone Weds eve, either come straight back or kip at home in which case return Thurs AM, cut up logs if necessary (never drink before using chainsaws or axes), relax Thurs eve, drink but not to excess in case of need to defend Fri, stay sober help cook and eat Sat and depart before Elton John's song comes true on Saturday Night. But I may be less tense by then. Last I heard of Gril Friday the bruising from her fall was coming out which prevented her getting to Faversham (too much walking anyway) and was feared to prevent her Knocking. Now is the time to get out in the garden and dead head the Lender pods. After the sun and high winds they have dried a treat and come of the stem easy. Run your fingers up the lavender stem with a cupped hand and the pods will collect in your hand. When I was a kid back in the stone age there was a game I played with Grass called Cake or candle,..........(Not that Grass) Thats how you remove the pods. I picked a Carrier Bag full today from my garden brought the Lavender indoors placed them in trays lined with Kitchen paper and have left them on window cill,s all round my home. I put it to you it quite overpowering through out the house and the smells wonderful. |

Remember to bash the herbs or crush them and the flavors will be much stronger, With shop brought dried herbs if one is not certain what herbs goes with what herbs you can make a easy taster to check. Get a small bowl. Place a Level Table spoon of Dried herbs you want to test in the bowl. With a Level Tablespoon of Flour, Add 2 teaspoons of Milk until creamy. you have now created a creamy herb sauce? (it should have the consistency of yogurt) Put it in the fridge for half hour, Take out of fridge and taste with a Tea spoon or on a piece of bread. If your eyes shoot out your Ears-holes and your Bum collapses you know the herbs do not mix. Seriously though be minimal but equal with every ingredient and taste gingerly. Regards Pierre. |

They have Black handles and silver blades how it got mixed up with my equipment is beyond me but i recall it being used to slice the silver side of beef i got for the saturday night meal. I only found them today when I took the cutlery out of soak and sharpened my knifes. If you are missing the above please let me know and I will do my very best to get them back to you has quickly has possible. After Knockholt the strings were finished and the guitar was filthy. Both the string groves in the nut and the bridge were full of crap. The frets are tarnished and need cleaning and polishing the neck needs oiling and the body needs a damn good clean up and brightening up. should I keep the strings on to maintain tension or will it be ok to take them off and proceed with the work. In the mean time I have gone back to playing the Clarissia which has been Rogered so I will use that in the stead. Kind Regards to all Pierre. I: - 1. remove strings 2. oil fingerboard with lemon oil 3. clean frets and machine heards with duraglit or brasso 4. remove residue 5. clean body and back of neck and all headstock with silicone-free guitar polish. Do NOT use waxy furniture polish. You can use a damp cloth with a soap solution but not a wetting agent like Fairy liquid, or (testing on a hidden bit first) white spirit or even meths (be careful, some finishes are dissolved by meths). Do not use kitchen polyroll, use soft bogroll (compare on a sensitive bit of person to examine why) 6. clean nut slots with either fine string or dental tape or the old strings 7. sometimes lift saddle and clean slot 8. re-oil fingerboard 9. re-string |

My friend uses Olive oil rather the Lemon oil,but for some reason I do not like the sound of Olive Oil, Sounds like a cheap substitute for Lemon oil. So I follow what you said. Re Knife. Silver butchers knife has burn stain half way across blade. Hand held sharpener, and a Carving knife grooved/ serrated blade. I think it looks like a set. 'Some one saw me struggling trying to slice the beef joint with a blunt knife prior to meal and I was making a "Right Pigs Ear of it" (I forgot to take me Knife sharpener to Knockholt. The Person/s reappeared with the above. The knifes are very sharp and done the slicing of the meat very well; Trouble is I cannot remember who the person was who brought them over so I am not sure if they are HIS/HERS or worse somebody else's they borrowed from. He has been one of a number who have been picking up things posted here (anti-BNP things), and altering them to express support for the BNP, and then posting the altered stuff to other Facebook groups or as messages to other (self-styled) BNP supporters' "walls" on Facebook - as if they came from one of the opponents here of the BNP. It is dishonest and in some cases apparently threatening. I thought you might be concerned that one of your own postings here, one that appears to have been for non-political purposes, had been subverted in this way.
