You can hear the Gandydancer recording of the song (live) at the Library of Congress online site here: https://www.loc.gov/item/webcast-4273/. The song is a bit over 51 minutes in.

You can also hear the vast majority of the other songs on their CD there as well.

They sing "I once, I once went rambling" in that recording

Otherwise, the lyrics seem to be largely correct.

That's not the recording noted in the op, but it has the same lyrics for the missing line.

Come all you lonesome ramblers
and gather around me now
I was a long time rambling
I rambled with a rambling man

Come all you lonesome Ramblers by Gandydancer as on 'Gandydancer'

From the CD we have the following words and wondered if anyone could help fill in the gaps?

Come all you lonesome ramblers
and gather around me now
I - - - rambling
I rambled with a rambling man

I once had pretty fine clothes to wear
and a pretty fine horse to ride
But no I've got no money
And no fine clothes to wear

I once had plenty of money
And friends standing all around
But now my pocket book is empty
No friend on earth to be found

My poppa told me plenty
My mamma taught me more
Sayin' if i didn't quit my rowdy ways
There would be trouble knocking at my door

I sit in this lonesome jail house
$40 won't pay my fine
Corn whiskey has done for my body
pretty women are troubling my mind

Now its listen to the bluebird singin'
don't you hear that mournful sound
They're preaching this ramblers funeral
In that lonesome graveyard ground

Go and dig a hole in the meadow
Dig a hole in the cold, cold ground
go and dig a whole in the meadow
and watch the poor man go down

Thank You
