had this - any musicians in the area?
pub is: John O'Gaunt 21 Bridge Street RG17 7AA. 01488 648284

mail: from the editor of shirefolk
about: New session pub?

message: Hi

Just had an email from new landlord of John O'Gaunt, Hungerford - keen to get live music in the pub:

Dear Mr. Creamer,

Late last year I took over The John O Gaunt Inn, Hungerford, and am currently rebuilding a badly damaged business. We've brought back the good name for quality ale, and good food, but now I want to bring in another element - live music, but only acoustic.

I have looked through a copy of Shire Folk, but due to not being in the know, I cannot find an agent through whom I could start regular folk nights?

Dick Brooker has tried to guide me in the short time he was around, but he has to keep on the move.

Basically I'm looking for guidance in turning my pub into a folk destination for this area. I do not know of any other pub close by that has this, and it could be another 'house' for the artists to enjoy. I have Scottish customers, and I'm of Irish decent, so a gaelic flavour would be welcome.

If you are able to offer any guidance I would be very happy.

Thank you.

Patrick Abbitt
(PM Mr Red for pub's e-mail)

Can you put him in touch with any local folk session organisers? Good pubs who welcome live music are rare...

Thanks

Alan Creamer
