IMHO some of the greatest songs ever written are about a longing to return home, whether it be in the mind of an immigrant longing for his native soil or simply a longing to return to the old home, back to a simpler time and place. In my opinion, two of the greatest of these songs are "When It's Lamplighting Time in the Valley".
Another one is Jesse Winchester's
"mississippi You're on my Mind."

It's nostalgia time! Okay, what are your choices?

'Sweet England' - Jim Moray's version is probably the most recent recording.

"Happy Hours at Home," Stephen Collins Foster. A fine melody, seldom heard.

Good midi and text:

"The Miner's Dream of Home" - one of my father's favourite songs.

The recording I remember is by Peter Dawson.

There's also a later recording -a bit gimmicky - but recorded about the time I was born.

Phil
