July 18 at my place. Chance and Suzette will be here with guitar, banjo and CDs for a Lobster Boil/Song Circle.

I will provide beer, wine, soft drinks and salads, hot dogs. Jacqui will throw in some hamburgers.
Lobsters will cost $10/each.

I expect we will eat the beasts at about 6PM.

Who's in?
How many lobsters can you manage?

How many lobsters can you manage? I haven't heard that question since my last trip to Maine, 15 years ago. I took three, but my host offered four.
Here in California, I can't afford ONE.

Guitars, banjos, autoharps, singing, lobster! Maniacs! New Hampshironians. We'll be there! We're leaving for Sullivan (the town not the woman) on Tuesday and we'll see you all Saturday afternoon!

NOAA today says Tuesday and Wednesday should be Sunny in Portland and Sullivan(We arrive on Tuesday). Sullivan looks Sunny for Friday.

even 50 miles inshore, these days you can never be TO careful. Them crabs have been known to travel sideways, upstream, even on the backs of river, lake & water possum. I don't want them near my garden nor anyways near my garden food.

Well we'll be up at the crack of dawn to begin our '09 Sasquatch Search.   After our flight, we'll drive north out of Portland into the wilderness until we reach our friends 'camp' on Abram's pond north of Sullivan, the Summer Saquatch Singles Resort. We'll be out of internet and wireless range so we'll sign off now until we see you some of you on Saturday at the South Portland Lobster Hypnotizing and Boiling.

We'll try to get pictures of the He and She Sasquatches and their mating rituals, but failing that we'll take a couple of Kendall.

I understand the Search will include kayaking, which I also understand are tippy little things that lure unswimming guitar players to a watery demise, so if I don't comeback, 'Spaw you have the con.

We've just got back from a really delightful evening of good food, good music and excellent company.

Chance and Suzette are so talented and provided us with some superb music tonight. Barry sang beautifully and we even got Mary singing a couple of songs. Kendall did a couple of good ones, including his own 'It Sure as hell Ain't Country' that got a lot of laughs.

This was a great precursor to my UK trip, which starts Monday.

We really did have fun. Chance and Suzette harmonize so beautifully together. When even Kendall has to get in on the music, you know it was a good evening. Too bad they were only here for a few hours.
No lobsters were liberated. Although there are still a few hot dogs and hamburgers unnamed.

Yes, yes, yes, we had great time at Miss Mary's house. The lobsters were delicious as steamed by Squire Morse himself. Corn on the cob, potato salad, maacaroni salad, cole slaw, tremendous dinner. Great music after. Kendall got off a few crackerjacks and told some bald face lies (as he says: "Nobody comes to me for the truth").

Jacqui c and Mary sang some lovely songs, including a parody to Momma Tried that would have made Merle Haggard laugh.

Barry Finn sang a song of his about man's sorrow in prison that was startlingly good among many.

Susette and I had a grand time and were only sorry we had to miss the brunch. Thanks to Kendall for letting me borrow his Taylor, and especially to Mary for putting us up.

We're back home safe and sound with good memories of Maine. Tom Bazzolo's guitars are excellent. More on that later.

Charley, I swear as we dropped off 295 into South Portland on Saturday the sun came out, the clouds parted and summertime arrived in Maine. (I'm taking full credit).

We had an excellent weather day on Wednesday and passable most days, cloudy and cool, but suitable for hiking exploring. Quite satisfactory. We were quite taken with the rocky coasts and lighthouses.

Their "Peach Picking Time In Georgia" was only toped by their true Carter style "Hello Stranger" which I asked for & got in spades, wonderful. The lobsters were perfect except I got their to late to see Kendall pet them into a trance. I think he must've talked them into the pot.
