Subject: RE: Lyrics for Wolfe Tones? From: mimi Date: 19 Jul 99 - 04:29 PM Thanks, Jay, for your dad's address—he sent me the lyrics and chords the next day. Thanks also to Alan and Len. Sorry I didn't get a chance to check back earlier at the forum. Another query: does anyone have the tune for this? Like sheet music (or something)? Not being a musician, I am having trouble understanding abc format, and what I would ideally like to do is hand the music over to my friend who plays the guitar. Such a luddite I am. |
Subject: Lyr Add: STREETS OF NEW YORK From: Len Wallace Date: 15 Jul 99 - 12:56 AM STREETS OF NEW YORK
I was 18 years old when I went down to Dublin
At the time Uncle Benji was a policeman in Brooklyn
2.
We came in the short parkway to the flatlands in Brooklyn
Well to shorten the story I found out that day
Well, I phoned up the old fella and I told him the news.
3.
I went home in December cause the old fella died
I sold the old farmyard for what it was worth
It's been 22 years since I set foot in Dublin
