'ere, Woodsie. I notice there're photos of my melodeon on your blog, and even one or two of my shirt, but none of me. Was that a subtle ploy to save my clock being used on BNP websites, or was it that I didn't look suficiently dashing on the day?

Fab Club is normally first, third and fourth Sundays. Occasionally there is something on the second Sunday, as per October when the Phatts are on. Mostly there is no cross-over betwixt Kent and Essex, just us, but we don't have to go every time. The second Sunday clashes with the regular Irish(ish) session at The Black Horse. I'd say the first and fourth would be good.

Tam, that's a future possibility if I can work something out with Sharon. Thing is they run other events on Saturday nights, so to set one Saturday aside will take working out.

But we are on the case, and it is possible.

The upstairs room is great, exactly the right shape, and marvellous acoustics. Considerable natural reverb.

Most months we will only be able to go to one Sunday session. We might just have to alternate between Crayford and Nags.

Bum! I was really hoping for that Saturday evening session.

What a cracking afternoon! Great company, enjoyable music and dancing, excellent beer and free grub (lots of it) from the landlady.

A really nice pub; I hope things can get going there on a more permanent basis. If so, I shall attend when commitments allow.

Spoke to Sharon, and Royston and I will be starting a regular session in the new year.

It will be a Sunday afternoon session, and may be either once or twice a month.

We will be talking to Richard, to ensure it doesn't compete with Nags Head, and hopefully doesn't compete with Fab Club, so there's a bit of discussion needed there.

We are looking to run a session before the winter, as a taster for those who might like to get involved. It's worth going for the beer, the friendly staff, and a rattling good venue. Add in the music, and it's a must.

Possibility of an evening Folk Club in the room upstairs at a later date.

Thanks to Ken for arranging the session yesterday, and it was great to see all of you who made it. Another good day's singing, dancing, and drinking.

Don T

Google directions give

A12 28.5 miles - 42 mins
A13 34.3 miles - 55 mins

Adding a bit of reality to that expression of optimism, I'd say A12 60 mins into Crayford, and maybe 45 mins home.

Ken, yes I'll do that. See you Saturday.

Perish the thought Ken, never D&I, just fairly brightly illuminated.

Sue, before I do anything about this, I shall chat with Richard and yourself.

I plan to add to the scene, definitely not compete.

Depending on talks with the licnsees, I might try for a Saturday evening club, which competes with nobody this side of Sarfend, as far as I know, and has the advantage that few have to get up early on Sunday.

After the enthusiastic noises about the ease of getting there on public transport, I find that there are engineering works between Sittingbourne and Gillingham on Saturday! Trainline recommends a four-hour journey via Dover and Waterloo! I shall attempt to get there somehow (even if it's on a rail replacement bus service - aaagh!).

Ken, We brought up the Crayford Arms as an alternative to the Nags Head as Richard has some reservations about being able to continue at the Nags Head, but we'll have to see what transpires. At least I can get to Crayford on Public Transport (much better for the publican)I'll be at The Crayford Arms on Saturday anyway.

The crayford arms should be available sundays and yes if you want the room have it if you want the bar area have it sharon is receptive, as for real ales the crayford arms stocks a permanent supply, they sell the most real ales in the area and came third in the camra real ale competition this year, not bad for a first attempt, don if you want to take it on do so, im no good at organising things really i just let people know whats on there, sadly for a year or more ive harped on about the arms to no avail, but its still there, use it or lose it comes to mind.

I am not dismissing the Nags Head. I love it, even though it is a long long haul for us.

R. Bridge brought it up Saturday. And others were speculating that the Crayford Arms might be good venue.

Now that I'm fully retired, I was considering getting back into organising and the Crayford Arms is very easy for me to reach, particularly on public transport.

I had thought about starting a monthly Sunday afternoon Folk club in the room, with perhaps alternating sessions in the bar, a la FaB Club.

I don't want to tread on toes if somebody else has plans, but it will be a good opportunity to have a natter with Ken and the licensees on Saturday.

Comments please.

There is a room upstairs at the Crayford Arms.
but I prefer to play below with the pub regulars but thats just my preference. I do not mind.

I like The Nags Head Lower stoke and if we can alternate it with Crayford that would be fantastic but to lose and swap venues and not go back to Lower Stoke entirely would be awful.
The lower stoke lot have been good to us and I would like to go back at least once a year.

Regards Pierre.

"If it is only going to be once a month could we not do both venues on different days?"

Good idea.Surely if a regular thing (or things) folky is (are) established at the Arms, support would build. In time it may sort out the "clashing problem." It isn't lack of interest it's just lack of coordination.

Hey Ken

Barden, KevKlogs, Dilli, Essex Girl and Richard Bridge were talking at Knockholt about the one Sunday a month Nags Head sessions in Lower Stoke and the distance for most to travel.

Would the Crayford Arms landlady, be happy to let a monthly Sunday sing around session meet there?

Sorry RB, Kev, or any others if I stole your thunder on this? Just hate to see a potentially ideal folk venue fade due to lack of use.

We need to talk about getting something regular going there, Ken. Those kind of venues are few and far between, and it would be a shame to miss out on one that good.

Nice that you'll be there Royston, I always enjoy your contributions to the music.
