Subject: Brendan Power's Magic From: Lizzie Cornish 1 Date: 14 Jul 09 - 01:03 PM And suddenly, I'm back inside The Ham Marquee at Sidmouth Folk Week, and onto the stage walks a man someone had told me was 'just a harmonica player'..........I sat there waiting, puzzled as to why 'just a harmonica player' had been given a major slot at The Ham......when suddenly...suddenly this AMAZING sound filled the air Brendan then spent the rest of the evening stunning us with his magic as he made that harmonica come alive, become almost it's own orchestra, holding us spellbound with its' deeply expressive, emotional voice. Brendan Power is far, FAR more than 'just a harmonica player' he's an Inventor, a Magician, a highly original Original, and a man whose name must have been chosen for him by a higher source, because being Mr. Power couldn't suit him better. Below are just two of the many videos of his music to be found on Youtube. There are some great ones with Andy White on guitar too, well worth watching.. Brendan and Lucy Randall - Sweet Bulgarity - Youtube 'Lorraine's Dream' - Brendan and friends - Youtube Brendan's Myspace And the last time I saw Lucy Randall, she was with Seth Lakeman in The Great Hall of Exeter University, playing to a packed out audience, wowing them all. Both superb musicians! Anyway, I hope you enjoy listening. :0) |
