Subject: RE: Virginia Tam's Voice From: Maryrrf Date: 03 Apr 11 - 12:28 PM Oh please don't even think about singing in a high soprano voice - for folk music? Your strong woman's voice is perfect! |
Subject: RE: Virginia Tam's Voice From: VirginiaTam Date: 03 Apr 11 - 04:21 AM Thank you all so much. You all give me more confidence about singing and make me want to do more of it. Lately I have been missing my high soprano voice. Wish it had been recorded when I still had it. But I can live with what has been given me now. |
Subject: RE: Virginia Tam's Voice From: frogprince Date: 02 Apr 11 - 09:29 PM Tamara, all of your stuff on here is wonderful; this last, Past Carin', just goes to show that you do do just as beautifully on a gentle, sensitive song, too. |

Subject: RE: Virginia Tam's Voice From: GUEST,VaTam Date: 31 Mar 11 - 07:47 AM Thank you all. This Past Carin was recorded on my little digi voice recorder. The one Will recorded is better quality, but I made this some while ago and now loathe to mess with the video part. Took forever to get the pics in the right order and timing for the audio. |

Subject: RE: Virginia Tam's Voice From: VirginiaTam Date: 28 Jul 09 - 02:47 PM Well, I was gonna let this thread die the death. Very flattered and all that, but also uncomfortable with so much attention. Anyway today, I mentioned this thread to close friends/colleagues who say that I should make a CD. I told one colleague that I can not afford studio and technician time. She said there might be funding for or free use of recording studio through Arts Development. She has experience in grant dispensation for the Arts. Now I am wondering.... I would like to make something for my family and friends to remember me by. Re festivals and gigging.... I am not physically fit enough to do more than about 15 (25 at a stretch) minute concert so gigging is out of the question. Besides, I am too shy to take centre stage for any more than length of one song in turns. I like the safety of a sing around setting, where expectation is not so daunting. I am just like everyone else there. I do it because I like to sing, sing along with others and have them sing along with me. Gotta say I am knackered the next day after every sing around I attend. Thanks for all the love. Tamara |

Subject: RE: Virginia Tam's Voice From: Pierre Le Chapeau Date: 19 Jul 09 - 06:04 PM A silly gnu. One afternoon ...." Said I think I will fly to the Sun? So with two big Palms taped to his arms? So he put on a sprint? by Christ how it hurt. The soles of his trainers caught Fire? There was clouds of Steam ...........Has he run through a stream But he still didnt get any higher? Has he ran on through the night. Both his Knees caught alight.............And smoke bellowed out from his rear>? Quick to his aid "Came the Fire Brigade. .........."Who chased him for over a year? Now did that Gnu every get to the Sun. Well I believe the task is now done? Fore if you look through your telescope tonight at Half past twelve. " He will be passing through the AURORA at one. Subject: RE: Virginia Tam's Voice From: Pierre Le Chapeau Date: 19 Jul 09 - 05:01 PM I know where you are coming from Mick Excellent idea. Subject: RE: Virginia Tam's Voice From: VirginiaTam Date: 19 Jul 09 - 04:31 PM There are some recordings of a few members of the most excellent Kent crowd (Richard Bridge, Barden of England, Melodeonboy, and the likes) on that same youtube channel "ideasthatsell" made by our very own Fisheye. If we are talking personal tastes - I love Biker Hill and Marks in the Grass. But that's just me. BTW for any Americans wondering about hols atm hols = holiday = vacation atm = at the moment not automated teller machine snerk took me a few to figure that one out. |

Subject: RE: Virginia Tam's Voice From: Lizzie Cornish 1 Date: 17 Jul 09 - 01:43 PM "It would be great if she went into a studio with a decent producer." Absolutely BRILLIANT idea, Mick! |
Subject: RE: Virginia Tam's Voice From: Mick Woods Date: 17 Jul 09 - 01:33 PM That should be see y'all at Knockholt! I'll have to move this computer out of thr dark. By the way isn't it great that VT is getting lots of praise. I must point out though that these amateur digital recordings although OK don't get close to capturing the full quality of her voice. It would be great if she went into a studio with a decent producer. I will put her in touch with my friend Mitch Hiller when she gets back. Mitch lives in Essex too. He has produced and been vocal coach for the likes of Chaka Kahn, Christy moore, Lulu, Keifer Sutherland(yes)Pet Shop Boys and many more. I'm sure that he can at the very least give her some good advice on recording. |
Subject: RE: Virginia Tam's Voice From: Lizzie Cornish 1 Date: 17 Jul 09 - 01:25 PM Sounds beautiful, Tam. Hope you have a lovely time... I came bottom in geography, a very long time ago, as me and maps don't mix, but...if you're anywhere near Newton Stewart during your holiday...pop in and see some fellow Mudcatters and Folkies, Jan and Chris, who run The Cafe Cree there. They'd LOVE to meet you..and their food is out of this world! They were regional finalists in Gary Rhodes 'Local Food Heroes' this year...All their food is locally sourced and produced, and you'll be sure of a very entertaining afternoon, because Jan will have you laughing the entire time you're there. She's such a wonderful person, so funny..very warm...and Chris cooks like an absolute dream. All that AND they play folk music in the cafe too! The Cafe Cree -in Newton Stewart Anyway...just in case you're oop that way... |
