Yes, the folk club on every Monday night is worthwhile the visit. The crack is good, the singing is exceptional and if you like a bit of friendly critism that can be arranged. John Snow who runs the club makes everyone most welcome and likes new visitors to supplement the hardcore resident singers. So if you either live in the area or are visiting pop along on a Monday night.
Not only is the club good but the pub itself, The Foresters Arms, is also worth a mention, cracking landlady and good beer.
I personally am out in foreign lands but can't wait to get back there in August but write the above from past regular visits.

I'll be playing this club (and Vic's Royal Oak) at the end of October on my first trip over there to perform. What can I expect Dick?

From what I heard from a friend who frequents the Foresters Arms on a Monday night, I usually do also but away in foreign places at the moment that Dick went down a treat. His songs and tales were well appreciated, unfortunately Dick didn't bring his Scarboro' girls along with him. The Foresters Folk Club is exceptional, as I've said previously run by John Snow who takes you as you are, knows quite a few songs himself and is supported by a regular bunch of people both good in singing and playing their instruments. And I shouldn't forget the pub itself, well worth a visit, but make it a Monday night.

I've heard many excellent things about Vic's well respected club; it's the Foresters FC that I don't know much about. John at the club told me that the audiences love to sing on choruses - - I'm looking forward to it!

I got the impression, that the regulars perform contemporary songs in the traditional style, however I sang mostly traditional songs, and it went well.
in fact here is what I sang.
Sailortown[fox smith/ Miles]
lovely Joan.
Adieu sweet lovely nancy.
Game of all fours.
Hopping down in kent[chorus]
Just as the tide was flowing[Refrain]
cunning cobbler[refrain]
bald headed end of the broom[chorus]
john blunt.
bushes and briars[refrain]
gallant frigate amphitrite.
do me amma[refrain]
ball of yarn[ chorus]
single girl.
coasts of peru?
seeds of love.
lowlands of holland.

Dave, the resident singers did include a fair amount of chorus songs.
there were also two excellent visiting singers, Chris Wilson[WilsonFamily]and Ann Alderson, who did excellent spots.
