I've had a message forwarded to me with the following info:

Tim van Eyken is appearing on Radio 4 at 1.30pm, 21st July. He is presenting a programme called "From Dots to Diamonds" about unearthing old musical manuscripts.

Should be interesting, and on "Listen Again" for anyone coming late to the information.

for anyone coming late to the information.

Please see this thread for some more information, and of course a whole bunch of side-issues .... looking forward to hearing the programme. The linked thread includes a link to the programme on Listen Again.

Many apologies for double posting. I wasn't following the abc thread; saw it when I checked for other threads but didn't realize it referred to the same programme series.

Programme was repeated this morning on BBC Radio 4 Extra

From Dots to Download

and will be available to listen to for a further 29 days

Tim van Eyken, award-winning young singer and squeezebox player, reveals how today's musicians are rediscovering 'tune books', small manuscript books of music that were in use from the late-17th to the mid-19th century.

They are now sharing them, in the way that musicians always have, but nowadays online, so that all over the world, people are playing these tunes once again in an ongoing global virtual session.

It's also on again at 8:30pm this evening, on BBC Radio 4 Extra

Sadly I will be listening to blokes bicker about the future of English cricket on Radio 5
