She has never espoused racist beliefs here (or any where else that I'm aware of)
BNPGeorge has been asked plenty of times - openly and by PM - to state her position on the BNP racist policies and history, and has consistently refused to do so. Remember, she's not merely a supporter - she publicly sought election for a racist and fascist party on a manifesto which included 'repatriation' and segregation.
If it walks like a racist, quacks like a racist...
Draw your own conclusions.

So, George, where DO you stand? What is your political position? Are Black people, Jewish people, Moslem people, Special Needs people, allowed in your party?

i have done my share of being nasty to george. it hasn't worked.

i have PMd her and i do not believe she is a racist.

i don't understand her reluctance to say so, but that is her choice.

now what should i do? drive her further into the arms of the BNP by ranting at her? or.. being reasonable, trying to help her with the problems that drove her there in the first place?

and by the way, i am a newbie and even i knew that goerge was short for georgina, and those of you who have followed these threads from the first: what should i do, thread will know this. i think someone mentioned george and you all want blood.

george has now become a scapegoat. while i dissagree with who she has aligned herself with, i also half understand her reasons.

take care all

How is asking her for her political beliefs scapegoating her?

She ran for public office. Surely she had a platform. Surely she has had to answer these questions. So why not answer them?

"You are nothing like your name. At least I manage not to use foul language."

No, you don't. You simply belong to a racist nazi party that would use genocide, and were you to 'take over the world' you'd kill over half the people I know because of disabilities, skin colour, religious belief or any other made-up excuse you can dream of. I may be foul, but I'm not filthy. Have a good look at yourself.

There are no good excuses for joining the BNP (other than to infiltrate and rot them from within, which I fully expect is already happening both officially and unofficially). They make no secret of their racist (etc.) ideals, which no decent person with the merest glimmer of social awareness could possibly condone.

The policies and actions of any group that a person affiliates herself or himself with impacts how others view that person.

It should come as no surprise that people who suppport multi-culturalism and equal rights under the law for all would have very serious issues with the BNP political party which is anathema to those positions.

A song that is the subject of a current Mudcat thread addresses the reality that what a person associates him or herself with with, and what that person does in his or her life speaks volumes about that person:

SPEAK FOR ME
May the work I have done speak for me.
May the work I have done speak for me.
If I fall short of my goal
Someone else will take a hold
May the work I have done speak for me.

Children I've helped raise
Students I have taught
Songs I have sung
Friends I have made
Rights I have won
Votes I have cast
Love I have shared
Land I have loved

I am not focusing on George. But she decided to put on those BNP shoes. And she must feel that those shoes fit, since she continues to wear them.

The actions of any person impacts how others view that person.

We are indeed what we do

Anyone is free to do as they will but 'not in my name'

"We must develop and maintain the capacity to forgive.
He who is devoid of the power to forgive is devoid of the power to love.
There is some good in the worst of us and some evil in the best of us.
When we discover this, we are less prone to hate our enemies."

I have the capacity to forgive, and consequently the choice whether to use it or not. Love, however, seems to have a mind of its own, and hating one's enemy is by no means the most effective way of beating them.

It certainly seems to me that the members and supporters of the BNP are the ones on this forum who are talking hate and who are engaging in hateful acts both on-line and off-line.

And I, for one, will go on record to say that I definitely hate what that group says, what that group does, and what that group has indicated it would do were it to succeed in its stated goals.

Furthermore, I met Martin Luther King, Jr., and I know that I'm not now nor will I ever be as pacificist and as forgiving as he was.

you also know my feelings towards this horrible group of people, but i also think there are degrees of nastiness and for different reasons.
some we can help get over their reasons with being patient and trying to help, the hardcore however, we cannot and would not be able to get through to. i will always speak out against predjudice, but blind hatred of those whos ideals we dissagree with is not the answer, doesn't it make you feel nearly as bad as those we oppose?, it does me.
hatred it a very distructive thing, it eats at your soul until you cannot see reason and i am fucked if i will let this happen to me.

ok, maybe i didn't express myself very well earlier . to be honest i am not sure i will this time either, but here goes.

what i meant was we should stop seeing the differences between everyone, like skin colour, disabilities, gay or straight blonde brunnette, stuff like that. none of these things matter, it is what is inside a persons heart that counts(and i don't mean having a pace maker).
we all have individual personalities and because of this i have learnt alot about myself.
if we all thought the same way about everything, we would never get to see things in a different light and we would stagnate.

do you know what i mean? maybe if i haven't made it clear by now, i should stop digging?

You're perfectly clear Jeddy, I was more padding out what you said than arguing with it. The differences in people won't go away though, and I think it's better to acknowledge them and regard them as positive rather than negative. To 'stop seeing' them is not the way forward, in my opinion; it implies they are negative.

sorry i read you wrong smokey, i am in a bad mood, nothing to do with anything here, but i think it affected how i read stuff.

there is a difference between recognising(?) the diffrences between us and using them for points of hatred or fear.

I've PM'd BNPGeorge too, to ask her some questions about the political party she wants to represent. She's not replied, though.
Because of that, I can only assume that she is racist. If she wasn't she wouldn't last very long in the BNP before coming to her senses.

In my view we should celebrate how differences between cultures, life experiences etc enrich us as a society, accepting the right to be different and not trying to impose a single homogenised version of what a society should be, be-it through eugenics-based far right ideology, or the extreme centralisation-based ideologies of the far left, or even the monetarist ideologies where cultures are more and more shaped by corporation like McDonalds and Tescos which, in my opinion does more damage to cultural identities around the world than migration ever will.

it may sound simplistic, but truths generally are, and an inescapable truth is that the foundation of any society should be based on people being nice to each other, and if people held that truth in their hearts, then it would become impossible for the hate-mongers to divide cultures. Without that division the hate-mongers can never thrive.

There are problems in the world: climate, hunger, disease the fact that we live on a planet which can be pretty hostile to humans - but humans are resilient, and great adapters. If humanity put as much energy into co-operation and creativity to overcome the problems as it does into fueling hate and paranoia then so much more can be achieved.

Any way that is my bud' hodne (be nice) speech. After that back to scrutinising hate-mongers and countering their divisiveness.

Lisa the only REAL problem in The UK is the BNP and it's lackies/toadies/hangers-on, BUT racism is worldwide epidemic that needs to be met with a united front, no matter where you live or are from, so your sorry, parochial excuse holds no water, mind you the fact that you only posted as a guest means you have no standing within the Mudcat community, therefore your 'opinions' are quite worthless.

Lisa, or whoever you may be - 42000 Canadians died fighting fascism in the second world war. They must be turning in their graves to see one of their own being slagged off for standing up (and being counted) to this mindless filth you are helping to propagate.
Peace has earned his place on this planet a thousand times over by virtue of the contribution of his creative skills. You, however, have proved you are not even worthy of the oxygen you consume. Take your nasty little games elsewhere, or, as a great poet once said - fuck off.

i still don't understand the question but i will answer to it none the less, and if it wasn't what you were asking...sorry. i can't even remember, who started this subject, brain malfunction again!!

i believe in being one peoples in different areas of the world. we speak diffwerent tongues, we have different types of skin, different religions. etc. BUT we ALL want the same things.

to live in peace and without fear.
to have a roof over our heads whether it be a tent or a house.
to have our children grow up to know right from wrong.
to have them grow up in the best way possible.
to be happy and carefree as much as possible.
to have friends and family to rely on, if the need arises.

the differences should be noticed and learnt from. but it should make no difference on how we interact with one another.

lisa, shelly and 'sam' will never know the peace of mind we seek for ourselves and others.
they are too hate filled to see the good in the world, the little things that bring us all together. as much as i hate what they are all for, i can't help but pity them, for they are the ones who are truely missing out on a wonderful world.

take care all (it is not something i just say, i mean it, every time)!!!
