I feel a bit apologetic about making this suggestion as I can't be there, and am a bit of a chicken.

Fred, we could look at grouping together.

The demo assembles in the village from 9am.

There are speeches at 11am, then the march to the "field of shame", or as close as the police will allow.

So we could gather at a landmark in the village or one of us can attach a FaF guitar logo to placard as a visual reference. Good idea.

The BNP is an organisation made up of race haters,hardcore nazis,anti semites and street thugs. Its original leader,Griffin's predecessor John Tyndall, can be seen on "google images" posing in full nazi regalia in front of a large swastika and a framed photograph of Adolph Hitler.
If these characters who are filled with violence and race hatred ever came to power we would see a grotesque rerun of Hitler's Germany with trade unionists, ethnic communities ,leftists, Jews, moslems,the diabled,gays and working class organisations all at risk.
We really can't allow this bunch of thugs to get even more organised.The BNP is being joined at its race hate fest by a grisly collection of fascist and racist thugs from across Europe....I hope they get the welcome they so richly deserve.

I'm not very far away from Codnor but I've a baby being born around the 5th so I doubt if I'll be there. I'll certainly tell everyone I'm in contact with locally though. Good luck, and take a camera.

It's the lawful [allegedly] tactic the state deploys against left-wing protestors at demonstrations; to herd them into a confined space. The term is used with some degree of irony! For a few hours on the 15th August, we want the symbolic appearance of the BNP "kettled" inside its field (which is exactly where the folks in the field have chosen to be anyway)

We are cooperating, and negotiating the extent of our lawful protest, with Derbyshire Police Service and the police directions will be observed in full. Entirely fair and lawful.

Now fairplay, waving placards under police supervision doesn't really amount to a militia, does it?

What is undemocratic about it? BNP holds a political rally over three days, we hold a morning's authorised peaceful protest against the BNP. It's all quite equitable, lawful and democratic. Everyone has the right lawfully to protest against whatever they want lawfully to protest against.

The only militia appears to be Nazi Nick's mates at Redwatch and C18. Oh, and the long list of BNP core-members with convictions for terrorism and violence.

We will have teachers, social workers, musicians, students, housewives waving placards asking folks to be nice to each other. On the BNP side there will be criminal thugs taking pictures of those innocent members of the public and posting their details on the internet with instructions to find them and do them harm.

So don't start about poor old democratic, cuddly BNP-folk.

Unite Against Fascism is calling on anti-fascists across the country to converge on Codnor, Derbyshire, at 9am on Saturday 15 August to protest against the British National Party rally taking place in the village that weekend.

UAF supporters intend to "kettle" the rally by surrounding it with protesters. This action will demonstrate that the vast majority of people in this country reject the Nazi politics of the BNP.


The BNP pretends that its annual "Red, White and Blue" event is a harmless family-oriented "patriotic" festival. In reality it is aimed at promoting the BNP's fascist agenda to both its hardcore followers and its softer supporters. Previous years have seen SS marching songs played as "entertainment" at the rally.

The rally will also be a magnet for neo-Nazis across Europe. Last year the BNP invited guests including Czech neo-Nazi Petra Edelmannova who has called for a "final solution to the Gypsy issue" and Sweden's Marc Abramsson, a Swedish fascist who campaigns for "racially pure kindergartens" that exclude non-white children.

This year's guests are likely to include representatives of Jobbik, a violently racist Hungarian Nazi party that organises pogroms against Roma people.

Weyman Bennett, joint secretary of Unite Against Fascism, said:

"The BNP's 'Red, White and Blue' is a nothing more than a festival of race hatred. The fascists will use their rally to harden up its supporters and build its army of thugs. Wherever the BNP organises, racist violence follows.

"Allowing this festival to go ahead will mean more race hatred and racist attacks on our streets in the months to come. That is why it is so important for anti-fascists to come to Codnor in huge numbers to surround the BNP's rally.

"The presence of two BNP Nazis in the European parliament also poses challenges for anti-fascists. We need to build the broadest possible movement against the BNP with roots in communities across the country."

For anyone interested in a tangible action against the fascist menace of the BNP, I urge you to join in the protest against them at their "Red, White & Blue" rally in Codnor, Derbyshire on 15 August.

Unite Against Fascism Have called for a mass demonstration at the village of Codnor in which the hardcore rag-tag bunch of racists and Nazis will be effectively "Kettled" in their lonely field of shame.

The demonstration will be civil, peaceful. It has the consent of the local authorities and Derbyshire Police.
