Subject: RE: John MacKenzie's in Maine!!!! From: gnu Date: 04 Aug 09 - 01:51 PM Whoa! I was privy to the "early release" of the beta versions of some of these songs. They were great. BUT, these were professionally recorded. I am on track 7 of 17 and I am gobsmacked... especially at the guitar work! |
Subject: RE: John MacKenzie's in Maine!!!! From: gnu Date: 04 Aug 09 - 01:29 PM Listening to the CD now.... thanks bud... very much. |
Subject: RE: John MacKenzie's in Maine!!!! From: Jeri Date: 03 Aug 09 - 05:23 PM Of course it's not funny. Do they make flea collars in pearl? I got something on me from that futon. Luckily, Alice decided she wanted to stay on the futon and get off me. Lovely cat. |
Subject: RE: John MacKenzie's in Maine!!!! From: SINSULL Date: 03 Aug 09 - 04:50 PM Seamus the Dog not Seamus Kennedy. Seamus Kennedy provides other challenges. |
Subject: RE: John MacKenzie's in Maine!!!! From: SINSULL Date: 03 Aug 09 - 04:39 PM The flea thing was not funny. Seamus visited, came in the house from my yard and the little bastards were walking all over him. So I checked the cats and they too were infested. Planned to buy Frontline on my way home from work - fine. When I arrived at work I put my purse down and a flea jumped off me and onto the desk. GROSS! So I had to have Frontline too. I went to the ladies room and combed all my hairy parts dreading what I might find - fortunately, nothing. |
Subject: RE: John MacKenzie's in Maine!!!! From: Jeri Date: 03 Aug 09 - 04:25 PM Had a nice breakfast out with da boyz. Remembered Linn's CD and our beautiful plants. There may be a Martin guitar for sale, but there's definitely going to be a Guild D-4 for sale. Thanks to John for not buying the smaller Nick guitar so I could. Unfortunately, he needed it for a gig, so I didn't bring it home. Got to play his fiddle last night too. Jed was going to give John a ride to Logan. Great to see you guys again. Mary, did John take his sheep home? His fleas? |
Subject: RE: John MacKenzie's in Maine!!!! From: GUEST,John MacKenzie Date: 03 Aug 09 - 11:53 AM Will do so when I get home Amos, but it's not an old one, it's about 10 years old maybe. Played in nice, comes with an air freight standard Calton case. But I'm sure you could get one just as good cheaper in the US, have you seen the price of them in the UK? UK price , and that's cheap, they go for five hundred more then that in some places. John |
Subject: RE: John MacKenzie's in Maine!!!! From: SINSULL Date: 03 Aug 09 - 11:50 AM Don't do it John! He'll be using it to drink booze out of - kinda like a lady's slipper. He'll probably even add coffee and cream. That guitar desearves better. Cellar? Actually Amos. John has probably left for the bus depot and won't see your post until he arrives back home. SINS |

Subject: RE: John MacKenzie's in Maine!!!! From: Bat Goddess Date: 03 Aug 09 - 08:24 AM Safe trip, John! Sorry we didn't get to spend much time with you -- this working for a living (and retail hours) really cut into social time with friends. I'm looking forward to getting your CD into my hands and thus into my CD player! Hugs, Linn |
Subject: RE: John MacKenzie's in Maine!!!! From: SINSULL Date: 03 Aug 09 - 08:16 AM It has been fun having John around but the cats are starved for "alone time". My house better be empty when I get home tonight. There was an assortment of groggy bodies stumbling around as I left for work. Why do people get up so early when they don't have to? Safe trip home, John. We expect to see you and your Apollo guitar back. Be well, my friend. Mary |
Subject: RE: John MacKenzie's in Maine!!!! From: gnu Date: 03 Aug 09 - 07:23 AM G... though I could only share your travels through cyberspace, I enjoyed it a lot. Safe journey home. g |
Subject: RE: John MacKenzie's in Maine!!!! From: John MacKenzie Date: 03 Aug 09 - 07:17 AM The welcome couldn't have been warmer, and to top it off with a Jed Marum house concert, attended by Kendall, and a load of other lovely people, that just topped it of. As for my also aquiring a guitar made by the legendary Nick Apollonio, well it just made things perfect. Thanks for all the kindness and hospitality, and the bad news is.....I intend to return! John Did I say I have a Martin D28 for sale. |
Subject: RE: John MacKenzie's in Maine!!!! From: maeve Date: 02 Aug 09 - 11:46 PM Happy trails back home, John. It's been a pleasure to meet you at last, and Truelove and I are so pleased you drove out of your way to stay with us. I've been enjoying your new cd and have already keyed in on a couple of songs I want to learn. Perhaps I'll get to sing for you next time. An honour guard of mosquitoes will escort your plane as you leave the sky over the Grand Old State of Maine. We look forward to a repeat visit from you, and we promise we won't tell the mosquitoes. maeve PS Please send our warm regards to our mutual friends in Rosehall. |

Subject: RE: John MacKenzie's in Maine!!!! From: Charley Noble Date: 02 Aug 09 - 03:15 PM Sinsull- We've also had Japanese Beattles for years but this year they appeared very late, most likely due to the record rains and relatively cool weather. His grandson Michael is all of six going on seven and as tall as a nine year old. Handsome little guy. I really enjoyed him. Oh - Ewan and Susie were nice too. The young one and I agreed that there are few things worse than being forced to hug strange old ladies so we shook hands. LOL Kendall and I have had Japanese beetles for years, Charlie. Are you just seeing them? Hope to see the Eagle sail tomorrow. I work in Old Port. Most of the food preparation is done. I am off for a shower. tata |

Subject: RE: John MacKenzie's in Maine!!!! From: John MacKenzie Date: 30 Jul 09 - 10:05 PM Oh yes, I remember OK, me, thee, and Whispering Tom Hall. It was nice to get back to the Press Room and see old friends, I think that was my 4th visit, maybe even 5th. Don't know if I can make tomorrow night, depends if I can get a lift. Failing that, see you Sunday. John |
Subject: RE: John MacKenzie's in Maine!!!! From: Bat Goddess Date: 30 Jul 09 - 09:22 PM Green paper meaning New Knighted Snakes paper moola -- gave it to himself at The Press Room last Friday cuz we couldn't make the festivities in Maine and John didn't bring any CDs with him to New Hampshuh. That 'splains it -- ('course John knew all along...if he remembers the night at The Press Room at all). Linn |
Subject: RE: John MacKenzie's in Maine!!!! From: maeve Date: 30 Jul 09 - 06:02 AM Good morning, John. We're happy you enjoyed playing the guitar. I'll bring the Apollonio with me on Sunday, even though my wrist isn't quite up to playing yet. maeve |

Subject: RE: John MacKenzie's in Maine!!!! From: John MacKenzie Date: 29 Jul 09 - 08:12 PM Hmm, I played a 6 string of his at maeve's and, while I know he's famed for his 12 strings, I'd adore to own one of his 6s. Especially if it were as nice as maeve's one. JM Yes the lobsters were divine, thanks Tom and Deborah |
Subject: RE: John MacKenzie's in Maine!!!! From: GUEST,Kendall Date: 29 Jul 09 - 07:34 PM I've been feeling pretty low these past few days due to the death of my dear friend, Sandy Paton. I just wanted to hide and grieve, but I fought that urge and went to a dinner party at Deb and Toms house. Tom cooks Lobsters as good as I do! sniff. I'm glad I went; good food and company, and today I went sailing with Gordon and Carol. Gordon told me that Nick Apollonio is back to making instruments again after a long layoff. He is as fine a luthier as I've ever met, and his prices are very low compared to his ability. |
Subject: RE: John MacKenzie's in Maine!!!! From: Rapparee Date: 29 Jul 09 - 07:19 PM In Maine...well, the boy never did have a lick o' sense. Couldn't pour piss outa a boot with the directions on the heel. |
