Subject: Fifing on CD From: SteveMansfield Date: 22 Jul 09 - 06:49 AM Can anyone recommend any bands or CDs with the fife in a prominent role? I'm particularly thinking here about a single fife as a featured instrument in a band setting, not about the Ancient Men / Fife & Drum / Lambeg / Civil War re-enactor / Fastnacht / Carneval context (great stuff though all that is). Chris Norman plays one occasionally, I can't find any of the old John Doonan stuff on CD, I'm well aware of the late great Othar Turner, I didn't get to play any fife on the one CD I've made so far, and after that I'm all ears for any recommendations ... |
