Some of you out there will be aware that The Ruth, a beautiful gaff-rigged sailing ship built in 1914 was due to come through the sea locks onto Bude Canal this evening. Due to adverse weather forecasts, this will sadly no longer be happening. The seafaring songs session, therefore, scheduled for on board The Ruth on Sunday 26th July will also no longer be happening.
As there is a wedding at The Falcon, we cannot use the Carriage Room.
In view of my recent visit to hospital, it is easier for me to have an 'at home' on Sunday evening. Those who wish to join Kevin and myself at our house are most welcome to do so. Looking forweard to seeing you all then.
Cheers, Lucy x

Poem 190 of 230: BIRDWATCHERS' BUDE - WINTER 2001/2

Behind the Tourist Centre,
    Between canal and river,
On the marshy drained floodplain
    (Not now visited by train),
In among willow and reed,
    Eking out some winter feed:
Treecreepers, bobbing robins,
    Chirpy blue-tits, grey-herons,
The screams of water-rail,
And snipe sharp on their trail.
Plus, out along limestone down,
    Soaring seabirds can be found.
