Subject: RE: Morris film national release! (UK) From: McGrath of Harlow Date: 08 Sep 09 - 03:17 PM The website for the film says "On National Release from Sunday 27th September" - mind, I don't think "On National Release" means quite what it would for Harry Potter films, but it does sound as if it might be available in a few more places soon. |
Subject: RE: Morris film national release! (UK) From: mouldy Date: 08 Sep 09 - 03:12 PM Just booked my ticket for York. The lass at the cinema said about 100 seats had already been pre-booked Andrea |

Subject: RE: Morris film national release! (UK) From: GUEST,Black Belt Caterpillar Wrestler Date: 08 Sep 09 - 07:37 AM Anyone mentioned that it's on at the Dukes in Lancaster on 12th October? (I confess I bought my ticket before posting this so as to avoid the rush). Various John O' Gaunt Morris members are threatening to attend in kit. |

Subject: RE: Morris film national release! (UK) From: McGrath of Harlow Date: 28 Jul 09 - 05:28 PM Never judge a film by its trailer. |
Subject: RE: Morris film national release! (UK) From: John J Date: 28 Jul 09 - 05:20 PM The cinema at Belper plans to show it just on the Sunday - although they seem open to showing it on other dates if there's sufficient demand. JJ |
Subject: RE: Morris film national release! (UK) From: Snuffy Date: 27 Jul 09 - 05:18 PM Not quite as general a release as might appear: "The film will open on the following screens on that Sunday" suggested to me that it might be showing for the whole week. But at Stratford-upon-Avon at least, it seems to be just a single screening at 1.30 on Sunday afternoon. And as Shakespeare Morris has a long-arranged paid booking that afternoon .... |
Subject: RE: Morris film national release! (UK) From: GUEST,wheatman Date: 27 Jul 09 - 02:20 PM Could be imposing my self on the son and daughter-in-law for the York showing. It's a canny hike from Whittlesey. Brian |
Subject: RE: Morris film national release! (UK) From: GUEST,Uncle Rumpo Date: 27 Jul 09 - 02:07 PM Having just watched the trailer for the first time. Hmmmmm... I think I'll wait until its on the telly.. ..or the DVD is knocked down to £3 quid clearance price at Tesco |

Subject: RE: Morris film national release! (UK) From: mattkeen Date: 27 Jul 09 - 06:00 AM It would be great to get it shown on other indepentent cinemas and I run a mobile community cinema in village halls etc and would love to have it but I think, if Sidmouth's experience is anything to go by, that it may be difficult to get hold of and this is down to the film company themselves probably. After all they are trying to sell it to a distributor and any distributor will want exclusive rights presumably. |
Subject: RE: Morris film national release! (UK) From: GUEST,Woody Date: 27 Jul 09 - 04:41 AM It's a very good film. I'd be happy to buy the DVD and hope to see it again at one of the nearby showings. |
Subject: RE: Morris film national release! (UK) From: VirginiaTam Date: 26 Jul 09 - 05:00 PM we can only wish. I would be happy if they would make DVDs. I would buy. |

Subject: RE: Morris film national release! (UK) From: VirginiaTam Date: 26 Jul 09 - 02:41 PM I have just emailed the Arts Development Service of Chelmsford Borough Council and asked how I would go about getting the film shown at one of the BC's theatres. They show independent fims, so maybe, fingers crossed. |
Subject: RE: Morris film national release! (UK) From: DMcG Date: 26 Jul 09 - 02:40 PM I'm delighted the film is on more general release, but I'm afraid it's hard to be more positive when so much of the potential audience is so disadvantaged due to the distances involved. Perhaps, but a good turnout at these cinemas is another step on the road to a DVD release |
Subject: RE: Morris film national release! (UK) From: McGrath of Harlow Date: 26 Jul 09 - 02:14 PM Here is a list of Picturehouses/City Screens. So it looks as if there are still some useful additional possibilities from the list, notably (from my point of view) London and Cambridge. Especially if patrons of the cinemas request it. |

Subject: RE: Morris film national release! (UK) From: John J Date: 26 Jul 09 - 11:21 AM I'm delighted the film is on more general release, but I'm afraid it's hard to be more positive when so much of the potential audience is so disadvantaged due to the distances involved. Some members of the side I'm involved in are planning to drive the 110 (non-motorway) mile round trip to see the film. I'm planning to join them. The cinema in Belper, Derbyshire is already taking seat bookings for the one night (so far) the film is going to be screened. I had an email from them a couple of days ago, they seem more than a little surprised how many people are prepared to travel distance to see the film! Let us hope the film will be on less limited general release. I imagine it will take a chain of cinemas with sites more widespread over the country. JJ |
Subject: RE: Morris film national release! (UK) From: Surreysinger Date: 25 Jul 09 - 08:37 PM With all due respect, M Ted, Picturehouse and The Screen only have a limited number of screens .. I checked them out, and though there may be other dates and venues added, I would a hazard a guess that the additional number of locations may not be that great. |
Subject: RE: Morris film national release! (UK) From: M.Ted Date: 24 Jul 09 - 10:21 AM Read carefully before moaning, JohnJ--"Other dates and venues will be added, but I wanted to let you know the good news straight away!"--if you really want to see it, a couple emails and a phone call or two could help-- |
Subject: RE: Morris film national release! (UK) From: mattkeen Date: 24 Jul 09 - 10:02 AM Marvellously positive answer John J |
Subject: RE: Morris film national release! (UK) From: John J Date: 24 Jul 09 - 09:43 AM Sadly the only venues anywhere near Manchester are Belper and York - a prohibitively long way. John |

I would like to end with a comment from the petition: "We will fight them on the Village Green. We will fight them at the Villlage Fete. We will fight them in the Village Pub. And we will NEVER surrender!" Thank you. This dance is for you. Lucy |
