Wendy, have you considered making your events a sort of pass the hat or paid gigs for the headline artists?

Am I overstepping with this idea? I know that house concerts are done in US folk circles (learned from Mudcat). Wonder if it is done here in UK?

Marquee dried indoors overnight, blooming cold and windy here this morning, thank goodness we took it down yesterday.

Oh joy, I found enough left over Pavlova for sunday tea yum yum!
It was a wonderful evening, thanks to John and Peter,and all our friends who were happy to sit in a marquee till midnight( thanks Mick and Jane for the heaters!)
Great conversaton till 3 in the morning, lovely to talk about old times.The weather was beautiful on sunday morning and it was lovely to sit over a long breakfast and talk of festivals past and old friends.
We are taking the marquee down this afternoon and guess what it is raining! Hay ho, we will have to hang the roof over the bannisters to dry off.
Next one planned for next spring as soon as we have a date I will let you know, hope to see more mudcatters then.
By he way the pavlova was always served at the committee dinner post Walton festival , our dear friend Bobby( now no longer with us) used to serve a three course dinner back stage to the committee on the last night, and Jane and I have the secret rescipe she passed on to us.

Nice to see you perform in person Pete. I am stunned by how much music you make on the guitar. You only use two fingers to pluck. How do you do that? Wonderful songs too.

John Barden was no slouch either and I came away with a free CD. Whooppeee!

A semi late night spent listening to the walks down memory lane between Wendy, Jan and Linda. Wish I could have kept my eyes and ears open a little longer. I was told they finally called it quits at 3:15. what stamina. Sure I missed great stuff.
English breakfast cooked by Bill and enjoyed by all in sunny garden. I am still glowing with warmth of this weekend.

I phoned the vet and Sammy the cat is lucky he will be in the vets for a while and will be in doors for a while when he gets home. Got to nail up the Cat flap. but he will recover. I must phone vets on the morrow. Im so happy I could Dance Dixie .

So sorry to hear this Pierre, I do hope Sammy recovers, we decided not to have any more animals when my last cat died, it hurts too much when they get ill , but to have a car accident is horrible.

I got home from night work this morning to find that my soul mate cat Sammy had been hit by a Car and I had to take him to the vet he had lost complete use of his back legs. but seemed to still have feeling in them.
Depending on x rays and the out come of them /or any resulting nerve damage will depend on weather he will recover or have to be put down. under the circumstances I feel I can not after all attend this event. Despite my sad news I hope you all have a great day and I look forward to hopefully attending next time.

Clacton on Sea Train from Liverpool Street, change at Thorpe le Soken onto the Walton on the Naze train, get off at next station Kirby Cross. Walk straight to main road, turn left. Chapel Lane is first on left opposite the Mosla Indian Restaurant. We are number 21.
Check out the trains on Sunday as they sometimes work on the line and put you on a bus!
Can someone give you a lift? Maybe Linda?

The marquee is going up on Friday, weather forcast sunny spells, till it gets dark ,then pass round the blankets! We are borrowing a couple of heaters so it should be cosy!

Not long now, we will start in the afternoon around 4, bring warm clothes although we have heaters for the marquee,last year our feet got a little cold so warm blankets or sleeping bags may be usefull!

At last we have found a date when we hope we do not clash with other events!
John Barden will be in the Marquee in Billybobs garden on October 17th, Bar b q will be provided by Bar bq Bill!!! Bring your own drink, Sing around after John has performed so bring your voice and instruments!
We can find beds for a few, lots of floor space and the marquee for the hardy!!We can also put a caravan on drive( Dave Bryant always did)
