Subject: RE: John Barden at Billybobs Oct 17th From: VirginiaTam Date: 25 Oct 09 - 04:56 AM Ohhh my... getting shivers.. Martyn Wyndham-Read? Oh please yes. What about Wholehearted (the remains of Ramskyte)John Bartlett and Pete Luscombe? http://www.myspace.com/wholeheartedduo They are in Portsmouth. Wendy, have you considered making your events a sort of pass the hat or paid gigs for the headline artists? Am I overstepping with this idea? I know that house concerts are done in US folk circles (learned from Mudcat). Wonder if it is done here in UK? |
Subject: RE: John Barden at Billybobs Oct 17th From: GUEST,Pierre Le Chapeau Date: 24 Oct 09 - 10:47 PM Martyn Wyndon Read is very good I saw him at Otford. |
Subject: RE: John Barden at Billybobs Oct 17th From: Waddon Pete Date: 24 Oct 09 - 09:02 AM That sounds a good idea, John. Other suggestions might be Pig's Ear? Martyn Wyndham-Read? Dave Bartlett and Linda Baddeley? ...as long as we also invite the Pavlova! Best wishes, Peter |
Subject: RE: John Barden at Billybobs Oct 17th From: The Barden of England Date: 23 Oct 09 - 04:11 PM How's about 'No Worries' (my Bardettes in anothers guise). I'm sure they would be interested, and Virginia Tam loves them and their music (as do I and many other people). John Barden |
Subject: RE: John Barden at Billybobs Oct 17th From: billybob Date: 21 Oct 09 - 06:52 AM I hope that they both come back next time too Tam. Great conversaton till 3 in the morning, lovely to talk about old times. The weather was beautiful on sunday morning and it was lovely to sit over a long breakfast and talk of festivals past and old friends. We are taking the marquee down this afternoon and guess what it is raining! Hay ho, we will have to hang the roof over the bannisters to dry off. Next one planned for next spring as soon as we have a date I will let you know, hope to see more mudcatters then. By he way the pavlova was always served at the committee dinner post Walton festival , our dear friend Bobby( now no longer with us) used to serve a three course dinner back stage to the committee on the last night, and Jane and I have the secret rescipe she passed on to us. Thanks again everyone, Wendy |

Subject: RE: John Barden at Billybobs Oct 17th From: VirginiaTam Date: 18 Oct 09 - 02:44 PM Thank you Wendy and Bill for lovely weekend. Wendy, please remember me to Jean? Lady of the amazing puds. That apple cake was lovely and Chris is still talking about the pavlova. Nice to see you perform in person Pete. I am stunned by how much music you make on the guitar. You only use two fingers to pluck. How do you do that? Wonderful songs too. John Barden was no slouch either and I came away with a free CD. Whooppeee! A semi late night spent listening to the walks down memory lane between Wendy, Jan and Linda. Wish I could have kept my eyes and ears open a little longer. I was told they finally called it quits at 3:15. what stamina. Sure I missed great stuff. English breakfast cooked by Bill and enjoyed by all in sunny garden. I am still glowing with warmth of this weekend. |

Subject: RE: John Barden at Billybobs Oct 17th From: Pierre Le Chapeau Date: 15 Oct 09 - 09:30 AM I got home from night work this morning to find that my soul mate cat Sammy had been hit by a Car and I had to take him to the vet he had lost complete use of his back legs. but seemed to still have feeling in them. Depending on x rays and the out come of them /or any resulting nerve damage will depend on weather he will recover or have to be put down. under the circumstances I feel I can not after all attend this event. Despite my sad news I hope you all have a great day and I look forward to hopefully attending next time. Kind regards to all Pierre. |
