The Temporary Campsite run by Moor & Coast is filling up fast, especially for the first weekend (which will include all week as well... only 20 pitches left for this)

The rest of the week is better...

See : http://www.moorandcoast.co.uk/folk_week.html

If you know of people who are thinking of camping with us please let them know...

Moor & Coast

I have camped on this site at the Whitby Community College for the past two years and it is an excellent site with full toilet and shower facilities in the school. It's also nearer to town than the official camp site for season ticket holders.

But the season ticket holders are nearer to the Main Concerts from their campsite and you don't have to go all the way down the hill to climb back up. Don't forget!

Just to let you know the pitches for the first weekend have now sold out!!! We are holding a couple of pitches for the full week, and we still have odd ones available for other days after the weekend...

Well people were warned this might happen Glen. It's just tough if anyone thought about it and then forgot.

The Rugby club site is strictly performers, dance teams, stewards and stallholders this year so it won't be any good coming and smiling sweetly.

Best bet is the farm out on the Guisborough Road.

Just had a ring round of the other campsites in the Whitby area and all are now fully booked up (for tents) for the first weekend.

Not having been to Whitby Week - tell me - which campsite is nearest to the ceilidhs? And as a fit person - how far are either from the sessions? Say in minutes at 3 mph (an unhurried walk, not an amble or rush).

I am being told to consider 2010!

You should still be able to camp on the official campsite at Stakesby School if you buy a season ticket. Stakesby is also probably the nearest to town & a bus passes the site approx every 30 mins. It's a fairly level walk to the venues on the clifftop (The Rifle Club, Con Club, Pavillion, Metropole), level & not far from the Rugby Club, But a fair hilly slog up & down to the town centre.
(Taxies back arn't too pricey if knackered).
Cheers
Les

Hills are a part of Whitby... if you dont like them may I suggest Ely Folk Festival as an alternative. I believe its only 6 feet above sea level... lol
