I agree, can't wait to get back there. Not sure when it will be though.

Glad you enjoyed it, MC.

It was nice to meet you, too. And thanks for the songs you contributed to the mix.

One of the nice things about the Ooshky (Uisge Beatha) session is the clientele - I hesitate to call them "audience", since they haven't paid, but they do listen pretty well, and and can be induced to keep the hubbub down to a dull roar. It's also fairly cosmopolitan, since Woodlands Road is in the heart of student land, plus as you will have observed on Sunday night, a sizable contingent of tourists turned up (not an uncommon event)

All in all it, it was a pretty good night.

Made it to Uisge Beatha on Sunday. nice to meet Scabby Douglas and all. It was indeed a great mega sesh stayed from 7pm till midnight really good mix of stuff. Some great new songs heard. Next time i'll bring my guitar. Thanks all

The Ben Nevis one is said to be dominated by young showoffs from the RSAMD - I haven't been for years so can't verify that.

There have been Sunday sessions at St Andrew's in the Square on Sundays, after the Babbity's one finishes - basically everyone who feelt like carrying on just walked off there and others joined in. I'm not sure if that still happens but the people at Babbity's could tell you.

The Ben Nevis at 1147 Argyle St (up towards Kelvingrove) has a SUnday session in the evening (and a good selection of malts too!)

Hi

Not sure if you are staying over on Sunday evening or not.

If you are, then the Uisge Beatha sesh on Sunday evening is a good mix of tunes and songs.

Uisge Beatha, Woodlands Road from 6:30 pm until midnight.

I believe there's a session in Waxy O'Connors, W. George Street on Sunday afternoon. Not been there so can't comment on its characteristics.

Cheers

Because there is a lot more happening than they list and if their approach is passively waiting for someone to tell them it is never going to be any use. There are far too many sites doing that already, why on earth should anyone want to put in extra effort to notify yet another one?

Babbity Bowsters (near the Tron), Saturday afternoon, 4ish to 7ish but can go on much later as new players arrive. Nice people, mix of Scottish and Irish but the pub is helluva noisy (forget it if there is a Celtic home game on).

That website is totally fucking useless and needs to be scrapped pronto.

The Star, the Riverside, and the Scotia Bar, all have musical happenings of a folkie nature, the last being possibly your best bet.
Deep Fried Mars Bar shanties are optional

I might be coming up to Scotland for a few days next week probably in Glasgow from Thursday 6th - Saturday 8th. Is there anything on in Glasgow (may be in Dumbarton Saturday)
