I have mixed feelings about that - my home number is more-or-less public, but not my cell phone. I'm not sure what harm is done by revealing one's phone number. Since contact has been made, I deleted the number.

My mobile number is archived all over the internet, hasn't changed since I first had one over 10 years ago. Ditto various home phone numbers. No harm has ever resulted.

That'll be the same paranoi that killed the good idea of being able to find someone you needed but only knew their name.
