I should like to express my humble thanks to those both here and elsewhere who have said I was better than I thought I was.

And to Fisheye who did a splendid job of getting a DVD to make me sound better than I thought I was too.

It was a great evening. Richard was the at his best, ( But knowing him well, he will never be satisfied ), but thanks anyway. Thanks to Sarah and Brian B, for doing a rescue on the PA

I really wish I could have been there, but the lurgie is still with me, although somewhat better this morning. Glad it went well though - well done.

An excellent nights entertainment from the guest artist Sara Spade and her band, also to see Richard Bridge performing in a much different light than I have seen him before. I am not sure but I believe Simon was the organizer of this evening. With some new technology I managed to film the evening despite the dark conditions I shall place a couple of songs up here asap. My thanks to Pierre for accompanying me on the trip and I am sure I will be attending more of them.

Fisheye

I was not happy with myself, but thank you for the kind words.

Hero of the night has to be Brian Rodgers who managed to get acceptable sound out of the tiny (emergency, I think we were all expecting Sarah Spade to bring a decent PA rig, but she didn't) PA rig - indeed make it work at all.

indeed a tight slot but you guitar should stay in tune Richard throughout the 40 min set having been tuned prior and double checked before you come on?

If the pub is full I see no problem coming on early to the point where you feel relaxed that all the above Re Tuning,Playing faster, etc can be sorted. I find it difficult to play on the rush. and find it nerve cooling to have some idle chit chat with the turn out.
Good luck see you all tonight.

Hmm. Set practised last night and just run through this morning timing at 44 minutes. Cut a song, start a smidgeon early - or play them all a bit faster, no chat, and don't stop to check the tuning?

On the 4th night of Pig flu I downed a bottle of Chinese wine and a half bottle of
Spineoff Vodka solely for meditational purposes mind.
Felt like Shit drinking it felt like Shit after it? funny dreams and out of body experiences.

'Cured Now though?
Re RBs.Slot

Could be Piggie Flu then, as that's how this started, plus I'm feeling shattered and certainly hot. Oh well, hopefully the worst will be over in a day or two. I put the shattered feeling down to only one night getting to bed before 2am in Sidmouth, that one night was staying in. At least it wasn't 4am like a certain person mind you!

I have returned from Sidmouth with some nasty lurgie, or a nasty cold, so am coughing and sneezing horribly. Pretty sure it's not piggie flu though and if I'm feeling better I will do my best to be there, but it looks doubtful at the moment.

I would love to support this music night this but in order to come I would have to leave at 10.00 or I wouldn't get home by train and it is rather a expensive one nighter to book into Andys B&B. at £25.00.

unless
Karen & Dal would allow me to pitch a one man tent in the beer garden? for after the event is finished. They wouldn't even know I was there and I would be up and gone at first light?
Regards Pierre.

I think I should support this.

I am actually planning to do at least two songs that I have not done at the GI before - and I might do some contemporary and even some blues(ish). Still not planning any Irish!

Hi All
For those of you not down eating fish and chips down at the coast, We have Sarah Spade and her band performing next Tuesday ( 11th Aug ), supported by Richard Bridge.
Sarah is an old friend of the GI and a brillient singer / songwriter.
Most of us know richard, who has some great arrangements of traditional songs. Please come and support Karen and Dal, who are financing these nights
   Regards
    Simon
