Subject: RE: Banjeaurine strings and tuning From: PHJim Date: 05 Aug 09 - 01:45 PM Dan, I'm assuming that your banjo neck is the same scale as a regular five string capoed at the fifth. My neck is also an S.S. Stewart, as is the pot (although I've fitted it with a home made tone ring.) Use regular banjo strings and tune it to a cGCEG tuning. These strings will put the same amount of stress on the neck as a regular scale banjo tuned to gDGBD. I have tried nylon strings as well. I used the first four strings from a regular tension classical guitar set and a nylon guitar first string for the fifth. |

Subject: RE: Banjeaurine strings and tuning From: Banjiman Date: 05 Aug 09 - 05:40 AM It's a short scale 5 string banjo with a big head usually (though I have a zither banjeurine with a tiny head!) Strings I don't know. Tuning is usually C as you suggest. What make is it? |

Subject: Banjeaurine strings and tuning From: dan h. Date: 04 Aug 09 - 11:47 PM I'm happy to say I now have a banjeaurine. I need advice on strings--nylon v. metal, gauge and suggested brands. I also need to confirm tuning. (I've found it reported as the equivalent of open G capoed at the fifth.) Thanks in advance for any help. |
