Colin's one of my MySpace "friends". (I put that in quote because, like most people, only some of the musicians I've befriended actually know me...the rest are people whose music I like to listen to. I think I've only really met about half of my "friends".) I'll try sending him a message there.

Colin's based in Nashville last I heard, but the band tours Canada in the summer and they all have solo gigs here and there...... Stephen is in Guelph, Tom in Hamilton...

yeah 'Country Squall' is on that 'demo' tape.. I believe it was really new at the time... it's one of the 5 that stood out...   R.

Thanks for the suggestion, Ron. I do know Colin, sort of. He stayed at my house once about 30 odd years ago when he was a child prodigy blues singer (he was 14 I think), touring in the summer, playing coffeehouses. I hadn't seen him since then until a couple of years ago when he played in town and I went to see him. When I approached him to buy a CD after, he gave me a big warm welcome, remembered my name and everything. I was quite impressed. I probably wouldn't have recognized him if I had met him on the street. But then again, he was just a kid the last time I saw him, not a bearded old bluesman. I was a bearded old banjo player then, and still am...only the beard is all white now.

I'd also be interested in any CD re-releases.

There are several of Willie's songs that have been posted on this forum, and many of them are haunting, such as "Country Squall.".

If you know any of Blackie and the Rodeo Kings... Colin, Steven, and/or Tom... they would likely know, also Fred Eaglesmith...

I'm trying to locate a 5 song-pitch tape he did for a friend... guitar and voice.... I'll let you know if and when it turns up... it was recorded by Greenspoon in the 80's... Danny likely has a pile of unreleased material as they were tight.... R.

I have the late Willie P. Bennett's early albums in their original forms (records or cassette), but I'd like to replace them with CD's or MP3s. I tried to get them before he passed away at his web-site, but they were sold out at the time. Since then his web-site seems to have disappeared. ITunes carries only 1 album, which I have (and which I have as a substantially different album on a cassette bought directly from Willie back in the day!) Does anybody know where I can find the rest?
