Just been reading a earher fascinating book, "The Mysterious Disappearance of Thomas Severn", about a Derbyshire coal miner who disappeared in 1918.

Ilkeston Advertiser, 22nd April 1966:

"The events surrounding the unsolved mystery of Thomas Severn, who almost 50 years ago disappeared while working at the coal face of the now derelict Mapperley Colliery, have been used as lyrics for a folk song...

Nottingham folk singer Quintin Hood.. told the audience that it had taken him six months to collect material for the song."

Anyone know Quintin Hood, or the song (sadly not quoted)?

He was a regular around the Nottingham and Derby folk clubs in the 70's. Google turned up this web site at Nottingham University. Quentin is pictured in one of the panes.

Thanks to you all, especially John, that contact worked fine, and Quintin himself has sent me a copy of the song.

I should think he is a direct descendant of Robin and Mad Marian.
