There is one tune which it seems absolutely every Chinese folk band has to include on their first CD and in every concert. Goes by a variety of names. Begins like this:

X:1
T:Chinese tune
M:C
L:1/8
Q:1/4=72
K:C Dorian
cggc f3    e|d>f   ed c>BG2|
cdef gg/b/ gf|ee/g/ fe c4 ||

Anybody know anything about it?

Guo Brothers version

The fast section sounds like a separate tune, but I've heard both played together in other versions. The Guos add other material.

Found a bit more about it:

Dance of the Yao People

Composed in 1952, so nowhere near as old as I thought.
