Subject: Lyr Req: Babyface McLarnin

I have recently heard from friends visiting North America that a song called "Babyface McLarnin" is being sung at various venues in Vancouver and San Francisco including Vancouver University. I would very much appreciate any information about the lyrics, tune and writer of this song. The song is about the late James Archibald McLarnin better known as Jimmy "Babyface" McLarnin, who was born into a poor family in Hillsborough, N.Ireland in the early 1900s and emigrated to Canada with his family at a young age. McLarnin went on to become one of the best fighters the boxing World has ever known! Despite his wistful, boyish appearance he carried phenomenal punching power in both hands. Bert Sugar the eminent boxing historian rates him as the second best welterweight of all time, second only to the great Sugar Ray Robinson! Jimmy held the undisputed World Welterweight title on two separate occasions. Remember, there was only ONE World title in those days and the Welterweight division was probably the most competitive! In the course of his career he fought 15 world champions and beat 13 of them including Barney Ross, Kid Kaplan, Young Corbet, Benny Leonard, etc. As well as being a fantastic boxer McLarnin was also an admirable human being who served as a symbol of hope to many impoverished Irish-Americans and others who thronged to his fights. Sadly, this great man, famous for his quiet humility and dignity as well as his victory somersaults in the ring, is almost unknown in his homeland despite being almost certainly the best boxer Ireland has ever produced! Any help with the lyrics, tune and writer will be gratefully appreciated.

I haven't found a song yet, but here's his obituary in the Guardian:
Jimmy McLarnin
Two-time welterweight world champion with a fearsome right-handed punch - who was known as "Babyface".
