Subject: RE: Tech: Customising myspace background From: theleveller Date: 22 Aug 09 - 12:05 PM Thanks a lot, Mary. I used a Zoom H2. I've now got a 4-track deck and hope to be able to add a few more instruments in future. |
Subject: RE: Tech: Customising myspace background From: Maryrrf Date: 22 Aug 09 - 08:32 AM I had a listen to the song samples and I thought they were brilliant! May I ask what sort of portable recorder you used? In addition to liking the songs, I thought they quality of the recordings was very good. |
Subject: RE: Tech: Customising myspace background From: theleveller Date: 21 Aug 09 - 11:29 AM Well, not exactly what I wanted but getting there. Phew - bloody hard work. Thanks for all the info. Whipstaff |
Subject: RE: Tech: Customising myspace background From: theleveller Date: 21 Aug 09 - 07:55 AM Thanks for the info - and the warnings. I can do it on my own space but not on my music space. Anyway, I'll have a go at the weekend. |
Subject: RE: Tech: Customising myspace background From: Fidjit Date: 21 Aug 09 - 06:37 AM Don't do it! DON'T DO IT ! All the myspace sites that have a picture as background are so funky that it is difficult to read them. Have a look at mine and see how clear it is. and whilst you are there. Look at the Family Reunion Blog. I am over the moon! Chas |
Subject: RE: Tech: Customising myspace background From: Nick Date: 21 Aug 09 - 06:18 AM If it's a band page then log into your profile and then click on the 'Edit profile' bit Click on the 'Musicians Details' tab and then click edit on the 'Bio' tab and paste any html etc into there and then save it and update the profile and it will be there There are some really good sites with info and some really crap ones. I have a link at home to a really helpful site where all the code I have tried has worked and I'll post a link to it when I find it. Myspace has a very weird structure of nested tables which makes it not very easy to fiddle with it. If you know a fair bit about html and css you can do all sorts of weird and wonderful things! There is a Tutorial from photobucket which shows how to put one in a non-band profile; on a band profile you would just put it in the musicians details. You can then decide whether it is fixed (ie the tables move against a static background) or whether the background scrolls. If it scrolls it also tiles the image depending on the viewers screen resolution which can look particularly naff on bigger screens which is why relatively uncluttered backgrounds work better or ones that will repeat. If you want to see what you can do with myspace - try the Led Zeppelin page which shows what can be done if you really know what you are doing!! |
Subject: RE: Tech: Customising myspace background From: Rockhen Date: 20 Aug 09 - 07:25 PM Darn it! Not sure why my link didn't work....tried again but still not working but if you copy and paste www.myspace.com/wildwoldswomen it should take you to the site. |
Subject: RE: Tech: Customising myspace background From: Rockhen Date: 20 Aug 09 - 07:20 PM Just checked and I used a layout programme myspace layout programme (I hope that link worked :-) !) To check how it works, my old myspace is at Wild Wolds Women myspace although I don't really use it much, it is a (very basic) example of using a photo as a background. You just follow the instructions and the programme does it all for you. |
Subject: RE: Tech: Customising myspace background From: Rockhen Date: 20 Aug 09 - 07:08 PM I used a photo for the background on one of my myspace sites. Will have a look to see if I can remember how on earth I did it. Was probably using one of the free background programmes. |
Subject: RE: Tech: Customising myspace background From: Nick Date: 20 Aug 09 - 04:31 PM Is it a music page or a non music page? I have just been tinkering with a band page and starting to understand it a little Here's a work in progress - it's not a folk site - Greedy Zebras on Myspace |
Subject: RE: Tech: Customising myspace background From: Maryrrf Date: 20 Aug 09 - 11:58 AM If you do, please heed the advice given above. I've seen so many myspace pages where the background obscured the text. If it's done right it looks great, but so many seem to get it wrong... |
Subject: RE: Tech: Customising myspace background From: JohnInKansas Date: 20 Aug 09 - 11:25 AM Or when you find a page you like, right click and "view code." Print the code and then you can study it until you're either a pro or as uninformed as whomever you copied. (Plagiarizing is a compliment to the victim - in some rare cases.) Just be sure to check that the background doesn't overwhelm the foreground and make your page unintelligible and annoying like many Myspace pages. John |
Subject: RE: Tech: Customising myspace background From: Joan from Wigan Date: 20 Aug 09 - 09:40 AM I don't know how to do that, but have a suggestion. Find someone else's myspace site which has one of their own photos as background (I'm sure I've seen some, but can't bring any specific ones to mind), and ask them how they managed it. |
Subject: BS: Customising myspace background From: theleveller Date: 19 Aug 09 - 11:05 AM As a total ignoramus on the subject, I've been trying to customise my myspace music by putting on a background shot of my own. This shot is saved on the myspace site but, no matter which customising programme I use, it won't come up. Can anyone tell me how to do it in very simple, non-computery language? Ta. |
