A Friday night game. Soulds like fun. Got a PM from a Skins fan that was titled, "Pats on their backs?"

Yeah... guess who, eh?

Anyway, let the thread begin. I probably won't post much for a while as my Satanic nerve hurts like hell and watching the game is not an option... hopefully by the regular season start I will be able to watch some portions of some games.

GO PATS!

Bears will finish 9-7. Cutler has great talent, but his strength as a leader is yet to be determined. However, he's a hell of a lot better QB than Kyle Orton, the QB the Broncos got for Cutler. Josh McDaniels and Pat Bowlen both had their heads up their @#%es on that whole escapade. Broncos will go 5-11 this year. McDaniels will be out at the end of the season if this happens, and I think it will.

Philadelphia Eagles -- Donovan McNabb was sidelined by an injury already, in the game against the Carolina Panthers on Sept 13. Fractured rib. Local news says it's virtually certain that he will not start this Sunday's game against Kansas City, and that Kevin Kolb will start -- despite the fact that the infamous Michael Vick will be eligible to play then (thanks to an incredibly disgusting array of wheeling, dealing and hoop-jumping by the NFL, the courts and Vick's legal team to get him out of jail early and on the field this season, and THEN to make him eligible to play even earlier this season than first announced).

I can't imagine that Kolb will last the whole game. Expect to see Vick play on the 27th. Grrrrr.... >:-(

Michael Vick?

I'm looking forward to Sunday's late game. I had just about written the Cowboy's off this year after the second time the Giants beat them.

Then the beat the undefeated Saints.
Then they made the playoffs.
Then they won a playoff game.
Now its the Vikings.

They are no worse than any of the remaining teams in the NFC. Heck, before week 17, I thought that the Eagles were the best team in the playoffs.

Maybe.. Its brave to switch with two of the teams you picked before halfway in.

Here is how I see it.

I can't pick 2 teams I think that Chargers with go through the Jets like a hot corn chip through nacho cheese. But otherwise the odds of any one of the other remaining teams beating any other is pretty close to 50/50.

I think that the Chargers have an edge over Indy if they play. But a small edge.

Likewise the Cowboys have a very slight edge on Minnesota. Both Offenses are very strong, but the Cowboy's defense is more balanced and healthier.

Going into New Orleans either of those teams will be slight underdogs. But it will come down to confidence and lucky breaks.

The Ravens played quite well against Indy last night. It was strange bounces that kept it from being close.

Arizona lost key secondary players including their top cover corner early in yesterdays game. Warner's chest was injured.

If the Cowboys lose Ware, Spencer, or Ratliff.
It the Vikes lose Peterson or Farve, look for a blowout by the other team.

If the Safety had seen it, I think Rice still might have got it. The pass was perfect.

Well, not one of the teams I thought would win this round did. That's what I get for paying attention to the "experts."

How about them Jets?

Congrats to the Jets. I'm a Patriots fan, but they deserve credit for playing the game right, and hard. I won't bet on them against Indy, but I'll be hoping. Ryan has them focused, which showed in the penalty count today, especially the all-important "stupid penalties" category. The Chargers laid another egg, as has become their tradition.

NFC championship next week: The oddsmakers in Vegas have the Saints as a slight favorite (only because of home-field, probably), but the all-knowing talking heads on TV seem to be leaning towards the Vikings, especially their defensive line.

My beloved Saints seem to be at their best when considered to be underdogs, so I'm glad that at least some of the high-profile "experts" are jumping on the Favre/Minnesota bandwagon.

Reggie Bush has been kept under wraps through the entire regular season, playing part-time to allow some injuries to completely heal. Based on Saturday's performance, he might be ready to break out and show the star quality that has been expected of him since he was drafted.

The N.O. defense should also perfrom at a high level, better than the casual observer might expect, because most of the starting players are healthy for the first time in well over a month. After the big Monday-night Patriots win, the Saints had to play with their top three cornerbacks out with injuries: both starters plus the "nickel back" (#1 reserve). All those guys are back now and played very well against Arizona.

I see the biggest question-mark to be the Saints' offensive line vs the Vikings defensive front. Both are among the best in the league at their respective roles. I see the Saints as winning fairly convincingly (although maybe not so overwhelmingly as this past week), but if they fall short, it will be because of Minnesota pressure on Brees.

Jets were pretty impressive. If they can keep it going vs the Colts, there's no telling what they might be able to do in the final round!

Decisions, decisions. The 'Skins never made it to the post-season, and the Vikes won my eternal gratitude by knocking out the Cowboys. And they've got a QB who's been around so long he must have roomed with Walter Camp. Then again the Saints have never even been to the Big One and have a coach who started his career with the Leicester Panthers. Both AFC teams have been there and done it, though the Jets are the underdogs. Maybe I should just sit back and enjoy the football.
