Venue Address Faldingworth Live Faldingworth Village Hall Faldingworth Lincolnshire LN8 3SE Location Map Faldingworth Map Duncan is very popular at Faldingworth and this time we look forward to him bringing along his acoustic band. Duncan's band is made up of Duncan McFarlane - Singer/Songwriter & Guitar Anne Brivonese - Fiddle & Backing Vocals Steve Fairholme - Melodeon & Backing Vocals Gerry McNeice - Double Bass & Backing Vocals The Duncan McFarlane Band (acoustic) Classy English Folk, eminently listenable vocals and great songs, both traditional and contemporary with a strong rhythmic impetus that's infectious in the extreme. Duncan's a punchy guitarist in the 'English folk' style and offers a set about equally split between his own songs, other people's and traditional. Duncan has an obvious feel for the tradition and a deep-rooted belief that it has a place in the current folk scene, aspects which he puts across with lively showmanship. His own songs show a canny grasp of, and response to, the tradition, while his intrinsic seriousness of intent and approach is often laced with a healthy irreverence that happens to be hugely entertaining. Support Act - Fyrish Marjorie Paterson is a cello player, originally from the Black Isle, who grew up in a musical family and who has a natural gift for music and harmony and loves to play a wide range of styles. Dave Cowan is a singer and guitar player from Glasgow who has been singing traditional and contemporary folk songs for many years. He has a relaxed, easy style and a mellow voice. I look forward to seeing as many mudcatters as possible at the above event Les Worrall |

Subject: RE: D McFarlane Ac Band @ Faldingworth Sep12 From: Lizzie Cornish 1 Date: 09 Sep 09 - 03:49 PM YAY! The Twohey Step - Youtube :0) ....and those memories of seeing Duncan and his Band playing live at Sidmouth, in The Ham, during the first ever Sidmouth Folk Week have just come flooding back again as I watch and listen to this fabulous tune. There they were, starting the song so innocently...and there were some in that audience who didn't know what was about to happen, when the innocent little jig turned into a huge wall of folk rock. The wonderful sound lit up that marquee, in fact, Duncan and his Band lit up the entire town that night! A great, great memory to have. |
