Our local Archway School, Stroud is doing Sat morning get-togethers - mostly youngsters and what I assume were teachers. Well supported. But adults get a go on Wednesdays during term-time. I may have more details later.

As well as the Tuesdays session in the Tiger, Lairgate, Beverley, some beginners do come to the Friday session which is a mixed session. If any beginners come there are always some tunes played slower, and plenty of tunes are played that are in the Tuesday book in any case. It starts later than Tuesdays - around 9pm.

There's a pretty good beginner's session every Monday in Coventry at the Beer Engine, which later becomes a very friendly and inclusive English (ish) session for more advanced players. As you'd expect from the name of the pub, the beer is quite good! More details at http://www.covtrad.co.uk/

Having sent our September notices out in a bit of a hurry, I apologise for having given the wrong venue. The English tunes practice session on Tuesday 22nd. Hi Monsieur Rouge ! Some of my Tudor ancestors came from Uley (and Cam)---I must get up there sometime !
               Anyway.....Maidenhead Folk Club, The Seven Stars,Knowl Hill,nr Reading,Berks,have a tune session some Mondays where "beginners / improvers" do (or try to !) their thing..."Leadfingers" knows all the details,or better still,look on the Maidenhead FC website ( if you are looking for something "darn Sarf",that is.).

Clapton in Gordano - the town not the medical embarrassment (see bottom of this page) knowing the lineage I would suggest this is Irish in flavour. There is a cover charge. Date listed through to Dec.

I just posted yesterday! Tonight and then second Tuesday, Plough Inn, Wood St, Walthamstow, London. E17 3NU. This is the tune session of the Walthamstow Folk Club. Beginners/improvers for the first hour (8-9), free for all after that. 'Mostly English', all acoustic instruments welcome. Our room is accessible and there is easy parking on street.

We do a few tunes at the song session and a few songs at the tune sesssion. We have asked people to sing towards the end of the tune session and if the are ok with 15 musicians joining in - much fun!

Every Tuesday, rain or shine, 20:00hrs at the Tiger Inn, Lairgate, Beverley, East Yorkshire.
We have our own tune book plus we play whatever anybody brings along. Songs are welcome as well.

2nd Thursday of the month at the Sycamore, New Mill Rd, Holmfirth and 3rd Thursday at the Red Lion, Sheffield Rd, Jackson Bridge, Nr Holmfirth. Neither is aimed particularly at beginners but we're a fairly welcoming bunch ( I hope) who realise that we all started somewhere.

1) Cirencester Gloucs.
Every Monday: Roaring Jelly, a beginners club (any instrument) run by Anne & Steve, 8.00 -9.30 every Monday at Ingleside House, Beeches Road, Cirencester. Contact 01666-502225 Costs a nominal £2 each and you get some chips to have with your pint in the social at the end of the session.

2) There was one in Uley on a Wed, but there is some doubt about the venue at the moment. (see cresby.com for up-to-date info).

Thanks to all those who contributed to the previous thread concerning Beginners and Improvers Tune Sessions (BAITS).

I think it would be useful to establish a list of all the BAITS that take place through the year, as opposed to those at festivals, in the UK.

If you know of one can you respond here with details?
