Subject: English music sessions at Swanage FF From: ConcertinaChap Date: 05 Sep 09 - 06:15 AM Hi all, I realised the other day that the excellent English music sessions at Swanage had been moved from Frida/Saturday evening to Saturday/Sunday lunchtime. This is a bit of a disaster for us, as well I guess for a lot of other musicians who play for Morris at this very Morris heavy festival. So I wrote to the organisers. The reply I got was so positive that I aksed them if they would like me to repost it on Mudcat for them. They would, so here it is:- Good News! We have arranged evening English Music sessions in the marquee in the back garden of the Red Lion for this year - Fri & Sat - under cover! Do not confuse this with the singers in the small bar! Next year the English sessions will be based at the Black Swan! Alyson is delighted to host a session and will make everyone welcome there, but she already has music booked for this year. We have had problems this year due to a change of management/ownership at the Crow's Nest and it is now a 'gastro pub' and has moved up-market. Please pass on this information to those you know. It is listed on the website now. Kathy So I replied: That is most welcome news. Don't worry, I wouldn't dream of upsetting the singers in the small bar - Kitty might write a song about me! Chris |

Kitty PS You and Anne are welcome to come in for a sing, if you fancy a break from playing! |

Subject: RE: English music sessions at Swanage FF From: GUEST,kathy - Swanage Folk Festival committee Date: 08 Sep 09 - 05:54 PM Singing at the Red Lion is officially lunch times and evenings but tends to go on for as long as there are singers and Kitty & Derek's voices hold up :) The change of attitude at the Crow's nest knocked us for 6 andleft us scrabbling rather late in the day. I do hope you find the marquee at the Red Lion ok for this year. kathy |

Subject: RE: English music sessions at Swanage FF From: ConcertinaChap Date: 09 Sep 09 - 02:17 AM I've also put this out on the Radway Reunion mailing list, so we've probably reached a good proportion of the musicians who'll be affected by this. Hats off to the organisers for doing their best to look after us! Cheers, Chris |

Subject: RE: English music sessions at Swanage FF From: Old Vermin Date: 09 Sep 09 - 06:23 AM Don't think I've been in the Crow's Nest since it was the Mostyn - 1976 or so. A dreadful pub back then. OK to get to if you start from that side of the town. Red Lion is so much easier to get to and has decent beer. |
