Subject: RE: Lincoln six days of folk october 09 From: Mavis Enderby Date: 07 Sep 09 - 05:58 AM BWM - There look to be a few locals booked for the Open Mic in Bishops Greave theatre on Monday 5th, as well as plenty in the Dog and Bone session on Sunday 4th. Line up for the Rising Stars event in the Dog and Bone on Sat 3rd yet to be confirmed - be interesting to see who's there. Just as an aside, Miranda Sykes is Lincolnshire born I believe? Cheers, Pete. |

Subject: RE: Lincoln six days of folk october 09 From: Backwoodsman Date: 07 Sep 09 - 07:46 AM "Just as an aside, Miranda Sykes is Lincolnshire born I believe?" Not sure Miranda was born in Lincs Pete, her family are Yorkie immigrants I believe, but they have lived here a long time. However, even the inclusion of the lovely and hugely-talented Miranda, Lincs-born or not, hardly qualifies SoH as 'local' IMHO! :-) And are artists really 'booked' for an Open-Mic or sessions? I thought the point of an 'Open-Mic' is that it's.........well, open - i.e. anyone who wants to 'ave a go can turn up and get on? Or that sessions are just random collections of like-minded players turning up to play together? So, looking at the publicity Villan's provided links to, no sign of any local acts booked then? I can't look at the Facebook site, our IT-Control-Freak-Eejit-Nerds at work have blocked Facebook (although, unsurprisingly perhaps, they allow themselves access to it). Mmmmmm!! |

Watch this space for more details Thats very interesting. Who could it be? I am glad Churchfitters who are appearing at Faldingworth Live on the same night have only 10 tickets left. Les |

Subject: RE: Lincoln six days of folk october 09 From: GUEST,warpy Date: 07 Sep 09 - 10:08 PM Blowzabella don't do many dancing gigs so it will be a treat to see them. The tickets for the kids were very reasonable so its a good opportunity for a bit of a family night out. Lau were brilliant at Shrewsbury festival well worth a listen if any of the Lincoln crowd haven't seen them. |

Subject: RE: Lincoln six days of folk october 09 From: GUEST,Andrew - Fiddle Date: 02 Oct 09 - 10:45 AM Dog and bone is more of an informal session than a singaround... and is usually great fun. It is usually on from 3pm onwards on the first Sunday of the month. http://www.myspace.com/alachien Thanks, Andrew |

Subject: RE: Lincoln six days of folk october 09 From: Rasener Date: 02 Oct 09 - 11:53 AM Who is in Gone to the dogs now then. Dáithí, Ian and ???? Here is the link you need Moorley Man http://www.lincolndrillhall.com/~sixdaysoffolk/ As such there just happens to be different events going on this weekend booked by different people and the Drill Hall have encompassed it on their website Sundays event at the Dog & Bone is their normal monthly session. I think it isn't what you would be looking for Moorley Man as it not quite like the singaround at say Gainsborough Folk Club. Never the less if you are there you might as well have a look in. Great little pub. I am only too glad I sold out for my event on Saturday for the Churchfitters at Faldingworth Live, otehrwise I could have lost an arm and a leg. |

Subject: RE: Lincoln six days of folk october 09 From: Sooz Date: 03 Oct 09 - 04:30 AM Well, we had our Lincolnshire Say celebration in Corringham Village Hall last night. An absolutely packed house was royally entertained to a Magical Mystery Tour of Lincolnshire in Song delivered by John Conolly and Better Late than Naked (Mr BWM's band). I hope that the audiences up the road in the city had half as good a night! |
