Subject: Blues song: 'Hot Little Cookie' From: WyoWoman Date: 17 Jul 99 - 10:10 PM I know it isn't "folkie," but: I need the chords to a Sonny Terry & Brownie McGee song, "You Bring out the Boogie in Me," which I've also heard called, "Hot Little Cookie." I have the words, need the chords, if anyone has them, so as to spare my friend-the-guitarist some time figuring it out. Anyone already have them? (This is a major long-shot, but what the hey?) WW |

Subject: RE: Blues song: 'Hot Little Cookie' From: Art Thieme Date: 18 Jul 99 - 03:07 PM This was written by my good buddy from Milwaukee, Larry Penn. It goes:
I'm a hot little cookie, yes I am, (This just popped into my head. It sure does change Larry's song to put the word "hot" in there!!) ****BIG SMILE*** Art |

Subject: Lyr Add: YOU BRING OUT THE BOOGIE IN ME From: WyoWoman Date: 18 Jul 99 - 03:14 PM Here are Sonny Terry and Brownie McGee's woids (which I think are also very cute, although I sang this years ago in Albuquerque and later found out that a couple of women were insulted by the innuendo...)
I don't know what you've got
All the other guys I've known
Let's go down to the lake, (I tinkered with the words a bit to make it the feminine version. It's one of my favorite songs, of the playful variety.) WW |

Sonny Terry/Brownie McGhee
(E)I don't know what you've got but it (F#7)don't take a genius to (B7)see
When you (A7)move like that, when you groove like that,
You could (E)make a blind man (C#7)see,
You're a (E)hot little cookie and you (B7)bring out the boogie in (E)me.
All the other gals I've known were glad when my boogie got tired.
They'd sputter and scratch like a match you can't set on fire.
But when you dance like that in them pants like that,
Lord you make me jump outta my tree. You're a hot little cookie and you bring out the boogie in me.
Let's go down to the lake, I could show you a thing or two.
We could spend all our time drinking wine in a rented canoe.
We could reel and romp, we could kick and stomp,
We could shake the fruit down from the tree.
You're a hot little cookie and you bring out the boogie in me.
You're my chocolate cookie and you bring out the boogie in me.
You're a hot little cookie and you bring out the boogie in me.
