Kirkby Fleetham Folk Club near Northallerton, North Yorks, returns form it's summer break with a bang! The very fabulous Boat Band are the main guests on 26th September with support from up & coming locals Richard & Debbie Roe. Singaround (if time) after the acts.

Evening starts at 7.30 pm & costs just £5 at Kirkby Fleetham Village Hall, DL7 0SH. Real Ale (& other drinks) available to bring in to the Village Hall from the newly re-furbed Black Horse Pub, just across the Village Green.

Call Paul on 01609 748 259 (or email kffc@live.co.uk) to reserve a ticket!

The Boat Band:

After playing for many years, trawling the venues of Britain and beyond, THE BOAT BAND have picked up a huge and varied catch of tunes: Creole, Caribbean, gospel, Cajun, Irish, zydeco and blues-not much slips through the net.If it can be played on accordion and fiddle (or trombone, washboard, trumpet, banjo etc), if it touches the heart and moves the feet, it`s in the repertoire.

Come along to a gig and enjoy the English tunes and songs nestling in alongside the already eclectic offerings, whether it's at an all out ceilidh, a strictly cajun dance or a sit-down concert. The line-up is based on: Kate Barfield (fiddle, trombone, vocals), Mark Burke (percussion, accordions, vocals), Greg Stephens (guitar, banjo, vocals), Tony Weatherall (accordions, vocals), plus occasional special guests.

Mark Burke is not with the Boiat Band these days. There always seems to be out of date stuff lurking on the internet, will try again to have that bit removed. The other three people mentioned above are the current line-up. Looking forward to this gig, have never been to KIrkby Fleetham.

if you leave enough floor-space they will invite you to dance. Mamou, Cajun Jive, twostep, zydeco, schottishe, polka, waltz - well you get the idea.

Enjoy.

Leave dancing space? I think the Kit and Cutter gig managed four couples at one point with just about zero dancing space.

Very nice evening. And plenty of dancers, cajun jitter-bugging and even a Cumberland square eight on a pocklet-handkerchied sized bit of floor!

I'll have to look out for lederhosen-wearing guys to dance with - oh, you mean it had nothing to do with Das Boat?.

Deirdre (who has been on the German bier and it probably shows)
