Yes Dave, the field is available for campers, campervans and caravans, and I'll be there on Friday. I'm booked for the lunchtime concert on Saturday, then a music session on that evening, and a nice mid-day one on Sunday. See you there.

A closer look at the timetable shows that Spare Parts are going to be running the music session in the White Lion on Sunday lunchtime. As usual, we'll try to make sure that the more diffident get a turn to lead a tune if they want to.

After that we move into the Saddlery for a concertina part-playing session. When we've chosen the music for that we'll put it on our website for people to look at in advance if they wish.

Alas, we won't even be able to come for our normal day trip this year as we'll be across the pond. I'm booked at the Portsmouth (USA) Maritime Festival & we'll be at the Getaway the same weekend as Tenterden.

Hopefully Vicki & Trefor Williams will be commuting to Tenterden Fest from our Cottage in Leatherhead where they'll be based. I'm sure you all know that Vicki is currently undergoing chemo at the moment, so I hope that their programmed schedlue won't wear them out. Please don't go too close to Vicki if you've got anything that she can catch - I mean colds & flu etc!! But if you can, please give her a hug from me!!!

A quick note to say that the music for the Spare Parts concertina part-playing session is now on our website.

Our session is from 3.00 pm - 4.30 pm in the White Lion Saddlery on Sunday 4th. October. You'll find the three-part arrangement of the tunes we'll be using as Noteworthy Composer, PDF and MIDI files thanks to Bryan TheSnail Creer. The MIDI files have normal and slow versions. Each tune is played five times.

The tunes are Centenary March, Trip to the Bath and Lakes of Sligo.

We're also running a general song and tunes session in the White Lion bar that lunchtime.

We're on the train at 11.45 on saturday morning. We are crewing in the shanty session from 5.00pm to 7.00pm on Saturday evening and hopefully we will be making a small contribution to 'Remembering Johnny' immediately before that. We'll then be in the Marquee on Sunday morning at a time to be arranged. Not a huge input but we're looking forward to being there.

Later, another excellent but different - and found I had been singing with Brian Peters himself.

The forecast "very light rain" has just arrived, but has had a burst of not being so light.

Barden who was supposed to be eating cheese and drinking wine with me t midnight seems to ahv got lost with Jan and Frank.

It really was an excellent weekend. More than before in the central camping which is STILL too cheap. The loos were I expect a welcome addition. How about water run out from the removals firm or the forge next year?

Brian Peters FINALLY did Sir Aldinger tonight and it TRULY rocks. Last night's session (Sat) in the Woolpack was fine and we got some lovely choroi in the free-for-all after 11pm as well. Jim Mageean was face down on the table by 11.45pm and looking quite fragile today but as Graeme Knights said they had started drinking before noon and tried every beer in the beer-fest too.

Both Sat night and Sun lunch was quite liberating in that there were not many joiny-inny-instrumantalists (particularly once the shirt murderer went to do whatever he needed to do) so I didn't get pushed to do things one semitone up or two down (I welcome joiners-inners, but not if they make me change key) and apart from Good King Arthur's days, which I royally screwed, there were not too many fuckups my end and my folk'n'roll arrangements were catching listeners who were not expecting the songs to go like that.

The owner of the Woolpack rather annoyingly set a load of tables aside in the singing area for food-eaters at lunchtime today. It did rather cramp the sing, and given the amount that folkies spend on beer over the weekend I think that's a bit like killing the goose that lays teh golden eggs - and he does not properly maintaan the lovely old building either.

I'm told not many wre on the trains. Although I am not interested in the trains as such, it would be good to find a way to get more people on them as the need to cross the railway to get to the camping strikes me as rather key.

Thanks to Frank for lending me a sidelight bulb for one of my rear caravan-side-running lights. I was hammering it up the back road to Maidstone and a tug for lights would have been bad. Some twat was up my chuff and I was NOT going to give him cause to say a caravan was holding him up, so at several stages I was WELL over the national limit for that road, with the turbo chirruping merrily - all without a stabiliser and the road is a smidgeon uneven.   Volvos rule! However the fuel gauge did drop quite a lot.

We enjoyed ourselves. the Woolpack was rammo at lunchtime Saturday. Much as we tried, and succeded to get there early, we were waylayed by so many people en route. Most of them asking "Where were we playing?"
So, we did what we normally do, went shopping, had lunch, went shopping, had tea, and went to The Vines at six, determined to be there for The Barden's session. We very much enjoyed it, both the performing, and the session playing. How was Frank on Sunday? He kept saying "This Bishop's Finger isn't half strong."

I thoroughly enjoyed the festival this year, as I do every year. It was so good to get a concert spot this year too, along with MC duties at the White Lion Saddlery. With myself from England, Viki Swan (Sweden) & Johnny Dyer, Nibs van der Spuy (South Africa), Trefor & Viki Williams (Wales) and Jeff Warner (USA) it was quite an international concert. On a personal note, it was so good to see Viki Williams out and about.
The Saturday night session out in the dining room in 'The Vines' was good, and the new landlord is a fan of the music too (he's from Glasgow I believe), and finally the lunchtime session in 'The Woolpack' althogh restricted was fun, with Graeme Knights and Jim Mageean in fine voice, as was Richard Bridge. Thanks all for coming to the sessions, and a great big thank you to Alan Castle and the team for a fine festival.

Cardi is in guitar case so will be creased but present.

Quite a lot of people were firmly into alternative reality by the end of Saturday (you should have seen the state of Jim Mageean by 11 pm) - but for once I did not get Bardened on the opening night! And happily the Best Bitter at a mere 3.6 was easily the nicest tasting beer present: most tasted insufficiently settled to me and my indigestion has been playing up ever since.

Indeed, Richard. I too thought the Best was, in fact, the best! The Old Oak (not an old at all, actually) was certainly not right. Perhaps that's what gave you gutache!

Anyway, sorry to state the bleedin' obvious, but what a lovely festival! Highlights for me in the Woolpack were Tony Carlin and that Morris side from Lancashire (I think!) who sang the black pudding song. The apparently seamless interchange of widdly-diddly and song in the White Lion on early Saturday evening was also great fun.

A big thanks to all those who deserve it!

Great festival, loved the singaround in the Woolpack on Saturday. Thought concert guests were on good form too especially Brian Peters. Disappointed that I couldn't hear Paul & Liz Davenport, were they there? Weather was fantastic tho so well done Tenterden.

Perhaps not, but still a good range (three draught beers on when I was there), top quality beer (Sheps) and well kept.

just surfacing... and big thanks to all who came to the sessions and made merry... and to the stewards too, who were their usual inconspicuous selves but who did a great job... good to see the hastings bunch who braved the sussex drizzle only to find that kent was nice and sunny... highlight for me was the harmony workshop with CMR... so quick and encouraging... so what next?
