Subject: Title Competition - Kendall's DVD From: jacqui.c Date: 10 Sep 09 - 10:06 AM A free copy to whoever comes up with the best title for this new DVD. This is a performance by Kendall back in 1987, a mixture of songs and tall tales in his own inimitable style. I've got the picture for the DVD label but we're a bit stuck on a title so we thought we'd throw it out to Mudcat and see what comes back. |

Subject: RE: Title Competition - Kendall's DVD From: VirginiaTam Date: 10 Sep 09 - 01:20 PM mmmm Jacqui and Kendall As this is a 1987 performance, should have something in title that indicates uhm errr..... vintage? BTW I love a number of the above offerings and dwditty's is clever beyond compare, but not sure if it is very practical from the marketing perspective. Sorry not much help from me. |

Subject: RE: Title Competition - Kendall's DVD From: Dan Schatz Date: 10 Sep 09 - 03:18 PM How about: Kendall Morse Rolling Home to Old New England - stories and songs - That's the serious suggestion. The un-serious one is that if you follow the Loch Arcray with "Every Finger a Fid" (oo, there's a title) you could call it "Don't Ask Me Where I've Damn Well Been" Dan |
Subject: RE: Title Competition - Kendall's DVD From: ClaireBear Date: 10 Sep 09 - 04:15 PM Dan, that's brilliant -- and I don't mean your "serious" suggestion, either! |
Subject: RE: Title Competition - Kendall's DVD From: Art Thieme Date: 10 Sep 09 - 04:21 PM Pigs Ate My Roses (This was the name of a book Lenny Bruce was reading in the photo on the cover of an old Fantasy Records LP he made. It was the best thing on the album, and I've used it as a value judgement in all sorts of situations -- for the last 50 years or so.) Captain, I'm being serious! It's a less obvious way of saying, "The Older I get, The Better I was." Several different levels and lines to read between are inherent in the phrase. ---- Be well!! All the best to you both, Art Thieme |
Subject: RE: Title Competition - Kendall's DVD From: katlaughing Date: 10 Sep 09 - 04:53 PM That's a great one, Art!:-) How about "Morse Code - Any Tall Tale Will Do?" Or, any other tag that would go with the "Morse Code," i.e. True Maine Humour, Morse Code for Dummies **BG**, Morse Code for Maineiacs (kidding, just kidding!), Morse Code Talker, etc., etc. you get my drift..OH! That's another one: You Get My Drift!!! |
Subject: RE: Title Competition - Kendall's DVD From: Melissa Date: 10 Sep 09 - 05:28 PM Morse Coda with a thingy somewhere on the cover saying something like: "...often created by "working an idea through to its structural conclusions" and that after all this momentum is created a coda is required to "look back" on the main body, allow listeners to "take it all in", and "create a sense of balance." (snagged from wiki) |

Subject: RE: Title Competition - Kendall's DVD From: YorkshireYankee Date: 12 Sep 09 - 01:57 AM Vintage Morsels from Cap'n Kendall FWIW, my faves are: I Don't Look Good Clothed any More Capt. Kendall Morse : I Learned These Songs When They Were New "Don't Ask Me Where I've Damn Well Been" Morse Coda Ballads and Balderdash Thinking about it, I think I like my own suggestion best as a subtitle for any of the 'fave' titles above (although in that case you would need to lose the "Capt. Kendall Morse:" from in front of "I Learned These Songs When They Were New")... |
Subject: RE: Title Competition - Kendall's DVD From: VirginiaTam Date: 12 Sep 09 - 04:09 AM I love A Tangle of Lines Wow! Powerful that one. Kendall and Jacqui, How are you ever gonna decide on the winner? So many good ones here.
