I've only just seen this thread, but I did happen to switch on and see most of the short feature on Swarb, the other day. They talked about his illness and The Telegraph publishing his obitury a wee bit early. It's good to see he's still on the ball.

There's a SwarbAid benefit concert at the Symphony Hall in Birmingham (England!), this Friday I think. It was pretty much sold out except for the the top circle (what we call the "roof" where I come from!), but they may have some last-minute cancellations.

To LLANFAIR (and others . . )

Don't forget that the Byker Hill recording has been re-released on CD (by Topic). Best thing Carthy's ever recorded, IMO. AND I had to replace my CD copy when my son took it off to University with him.

I'm green with envy. He's one of my all time favourite musicians.

It's on at 11.25 pm for viewers in England, and (possibly) Wales & NI - 12.25 for viewers in Scotland - hey, I've got a Radio Times and I'm not afraid to use it - though other listings magazines are available of course....!!

Thanks Ian. I can't get Channel 5 either.

Did you know that Joan Baez is on the Songwriter's Circle BBC TWO Friday?

OH NO!!!!!! We can't get channel 5 yet. Nor 4, we get S4C. I am really disappointed. I remember seeing him and Martin Carthy in Manchester in the dim and distant past. Their arrangement of Byker Hill haunts me still!!!!! That's where I heard Long Lankin and loads of other stuff for the first time. Been hooked ever since!!! Hwyl, Bron.

On Channel 5 (UK), Monday 19 July, 8.30pm, there is a feature and interview with Dave Swarbrick. Set your videos.
