Subject: RE: Steve Stills tuning From: GUEST,J75er Date: 21 Mar 18 - 01:24 PM Blues Man from Manassas will take me the rest of my life to learn everything, but I got it down to the significant notes and the quick rests and cutting off the notes from ringing. What's that called, picking a note and suddenly stop it with a right hand finger? |

Subject: RE: Steve Stills tuning From: evansakes Date: 19 Sep 09 - 04:31 AM I prefer playing the Stills' great songs tuned DGDDAD. Gives more flexibility when you need to play the IV chord (the simplest voicing of which then requires just one finger on the 2nd fret of the 2nd string) Some of the time you need to damp that 5th string though when you're playing up the neck a bit on the likes of 'Judy Blue Eyes' or '4 + 20' |
Subject: Steve Stills tuning From: Dickey Clay Date: 18 Sep 09 - 05:35 PM Does anyone know anything about Steve Stills use of EEEEBE. = The first two strings (high E and B) are the same as standard. The third string (G) has been lowered a step and a half to E while the fourth string (D) has been raised a full step to the same E. The fifth string (A) is dropped until it is the same as the sixth (low E) string. The same thing can be done with DDDDAD. Very unusual alternative tuning pattern. |
