Subject: Lyr Req: My gift to jesus
From: GUEST, Vanessa

I recently visited the Kididdles website and this is where it sent me for a request. I'm heading up a Christmas play at my church and it has to do with gifts speaking of the birth of Jesus. I found "My Gift To Jesus" by Mabel J. Rosemon and music by I. H. Meredith in Kiddidles but there is no from of downloading that song or retrieving a music sheet. I have looked everywhere online and have found nothing. Can you please help me. I really need this song sheet to be able to practice with our 3 and 4 year olds ahead of time in church. Thank you very much and God bless.

You should be able to download the MIDI from Kididdles and then use a notation program to convert it to sheet music. I believe Noteworthy still has a free reader in which you can do that, or if not a very cheap purchased version. MidiNotate is also a very good and inexpensive program. I use it to auto-transpose and it will also give you chords to start from as well as the sheet music. If you Google up those programs you may find yourself easily enabled to do as you want.

But kids also can learn easily by ear-- why not give that a go, from the MIDI?

Yup, I just downloaded it (right-click "save link as") and opened it in a media player. I do not currently have the two programs above, on this computer, but another Mudcatter may be able to print it and snail-mail it to you.

Thank you I'm going to try both the suggestions. If I can't retrieve them still for some reason I figured I can take my laptop to church with me and maybe somehow plug it into their sound system.
Thanks, Vanessa

I have problems with the site too, Vanessa. I download MIDI's all the time, but the Kididdles site MIDI's don't co-operate.

However, there's another approach which will work. You can sing that song to the tune of 'It Came Upon the Midnight Clear' if you add a few slurs. By 'slurs' I mean that one syllable gets more than one note.

Try that and see if you like it.

I got the MIDI to download by mousing over the area indicated till the bottom browser bar indicated a MIDI present (look for an invisible word or button: "block"). Or you may find it in your temp files-- that would have been my second attempt. Or just paste this in your browser: http://www.kididdles.com/lyrics/midi/m098.mid

It also sings to Amazing Grace, so anything in that meter should work, also. We have several threads here of Amazing Grace-tune variants, some of them quite hilarious. House of the Rising Sun.... (Site search features should find these for you.)
