Percusso

The Percusso allows the musician to make two different sounds with one hand.

About the Inventor

Matthew Ledgar, Bundagen NSW. Matthew has been touring the world as a professional percussionist for the last twenty years. He began learning piano at the age of five. During school years he also learnt violin and then, after teaching himself the trumpet during school holidays, played first trumpet in the school band. In his teens he played with a youth folk band, performing at concerts and eisteddfods as well as with local funk bands. At the age of fifteen he toured Australia with the Peace Train, playing percussion with the band Dreamtime. He later played street music in Sydney and became a founding member of the band Kangaroo Moon.

Between tours Matthew took time to travel and study independently:-
1995 – Turkish rhythms in Istanbul.
1996 – Indian Gypsy rhythms in Rajasthan.
1997 – African rhythms in Guinea and Mali and Pacific rhythms in Rarotonga.
1998 – Flamenco and Moroccan rhythms in Seville and Marrakech.
2001 – Cuban rhythms in Havana

The brilliant percussion warehouse, Knock on Wood ,my second home sell these. A bit odd to play but it is quite effective.

Fine for a one-handed percussionist. But unless the two-hand (wo)man uses the non-Percusso hand to play something else at the same time, there's no point. And the video doesn't show the inventor either making that point or demonstrating how Percusso increases the musician's power to make music.
