Hello,
Does anyone have the words/lyrics to Tha'm Buntata Mor/ An Bairille. It's sung by Julie Fowlis and Muireann Nic Amhlaoibh.

I can't help with a transcription, but you can hear a performance of THA'M BUNTÁTA MÓR / AN BAIRILLE / BOC LIATH NAN GOBHAR by Julie Fowlis and Muireann Nic Amhlaoibh at YouTube.

The third item in the medley is a tune without words.

For what it's worth, the second tune is what I know as THE ROCKY ROAD TO DUBLIN.

Thanks, Jim. I've already heard the performance but was looking for the lyrics in gaelic. It was a special request from my husband -he's tired of me singing sad gaelic songs... I'll try surfing for the rocky road.

I had heard the lyrics were in the accompanying cd booklet. Anyone have this they could write an bairille out from? Apparently it just isn't on the Internet yet.

No word on the An Barillie lyrics, which I am interested in but here's Buntata mor's:

Tha 'm buntata mòr, Tha 'm buntata tioram, tha 'm buntata mòr, dh'fhoghnadh e do dhithis.

Ged a bhiod e mòr, ged a bhiod e tioram, ged a bhiodh e mòr, chan fhonadh e dhithis

(The potatoes are big, the potatoes are dry, the potatoes are big, a pair should suffice)

(Although the potatoes are big, although the potatoes are dry, although the potatoes are big, a pair does not suffice

Any of the Bairille lyrics would be welcomed

If anyone still needs the lyrics of "An Bairille", here they are.
Seo daoibh focail an amhráin, as Gaeilge)
Sorry, but no translation will be given - I only understand the song's about drinking a lot and regretting it)

An Bairille

Haon ti ri ti ro, haon ti ro ti reacaire,
Haon ti ri ti ro, is cuir ar a thoin a' bhairille.

Chuirfinn dhá thoin, dhá thoin,
Chuirfinn dhá thoin ar dhá bhairille,
Chuirfinn dhá thoin, dhá thoin,
Dhá ghloinne ar a mbord 's dhá chnagaire.

Chuirfinn trí thoin, trí thoin,
Chuirfinn trí thoin ar trí bhairille,
Chuirfinn trí thoin, trí thoin,
Trí ghloinne ar a mbord 's trí chnagaire.

A dhuine bi ciuin go foill,
Eist le glór an tseanfhocail,
Seachain na mná 's an t-ól,
Is seachain go deo na bearta seo.

Chuirfinn ceithre thoin, ceithre thoin,
Chuirfinn ceithre thoin ar ceithre bhairille,
Chuirfinn ceithre thoin, ceithre thoin,
Ceithre ghloinne ar a mbord 's ceithre chnagaire.

A dhuine bi ciuin go foill,
Eist le glór an tseanfhocail,
Seachain na mná 's an t-ól,
Is seachain go deo na bearta seo.

Chuirfinn cúig toin, cúig toin,
Chuirfinn cúig toin ar cúig bairille,
Chuirfinn cúig toin, cúig toin,
Cúig gloinne ar a mbord 's cúig cnagaire.

A dhuine bi ciuin go foill,
Eist le glór an tseanfhocail,
Seachain na mná 's an t-ól,
Is seachain go deo na bearta seo.
