Subject: RE: Lyr Req: Tha'm Buntata Mor From: Jim Dixon Date: 05 Oct 09 - 12:35 AM I can't help with a transcription, but you can hear a performance of THA'M BUNTÁTA MÓR / AN BAIRILLE / BOC LIATH NAN GOBHAR by Julie Fowlis and Muireann Nic Amhlaoibh at YouTube. The third item in the medley is a tune without words. For what it's worth, the second tune is what I know as THE ROCKY ROAD TO DUBLIN. |
Subject: RE: Lyr Req: Tha'm Buntata Mor From: GUEST,Didne Date: 06 Oct 09 - 12:16 PM Thanks, Jim. I've already heard the performance but was looking for the lyrics in gaelic. It was a special request from my husband -he's tired of me singing sad gaelic songs... I'll try surfing for the rocky road. |
Subject: RE: Lyr Req: Tha'm Buntata Mor From: GUEST Date: 09 Dec 10 - 02:29 PM I had heard the lyrics were in the accompanying cd booklet. Anyone have this they could write an bairille out from? Apparently it just isn't on the Internet yet. |
Subject: RE: Lyr Req: Tha'm Buntata Mor From: GUEST Date: 09 Dec 10 - 02:32 PM No word on the An Barillie lyrics, which I am interested in but here's Buntata mor's: Tha 'm buntata mòr, Tha 'm buntata tioram, tha 'm buntata mòr, dh'fhoghnadh e do dhithis. Ged a bhiod e mòr, ged a bhiod e tioram, ged a bhiodh e mòr, chan fhonadh e dhithis (The potatoes are big, the potatoes are dry, the potatoes are big, a pair should suffice) (Although the potatoes are big, although the potatoes are dry, although the potatoes are big, a pair does not suffice Any of the Bairille lyrics would be welcomed |
