An artist at my local art school has painted her guitar a mesmerizing, surrealistic blue with artistic decorations and curly cues. I'm half tempted to have her redo my 'cheapo' guitar. Wish I had a pic to show you.

But the best 'decorated' guitar to my eyes is the one Willie Nelson plays-the one with a hole in the front. Nothing says "I live to play" more than that one.

Good thread Dan........One we found a long time back was the Dale Evans Guitar.....We used to have a full size picture but this one is all I can find. Seems to me in like 2001, this guitar was for sale (which is how one or another of the G.A.S. sufferers noticed it).

And what about those tooled leather covers they used to have made for the soundboxes of their guitars? Elvis had one on his D-18.

Seems to me that such a device would muffle the sound a bit. Anybody know anything about this fashion? (It seems to have gone out of style, which is probaby a good thing.)

I was thinking about some of the old Grand ole Opry musicians. Man they had some artwork on their guitars didn't they. I remember as a kid seeing cowboy hats and music notes and I think Roy Rodgers had a horse on one of his. Do you remember any? They were inlaid, or painted or overlaid ... I guess it was the way at that time and place.
