I'm not sure if this has been posted here before. It's amazing. Watch the Ukelele Orchestra of Great Britain do the theme music from "The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly".

I wouldn't ordinary express an opinion on a thread like this but as a lifelong fan of the music of Ennio Morricone I have to say this is just lifeless tedium. Totally bland muso comedy verging on the sacrilegious. Dreary, dreary, dreary.

We have, in a suburb of Wash DC, The Tacoma Mandoleers (picture here

We had them at our free festival a few times. They all came out carrying music stands and took 10 minutes to get set up. It was..... interesting. There was no pretense at humor or parody...just old tunes.

And there's this one

Fun as they are, the joke does wear a bit if you watch a lot of those clips.

who's the bloke who sings "Shaft", and what's his previous band history ?

He sounds good enough to have been in some old semi-successful rock band.

LOL! I love their rendition of the "Shaft" theme. What an oddball choice of material.

I'm a huge fan of Ennico Morricone and the spaghetti westerns, by the way. It doesn't offend me.

I wonder if they've done any Bob Dylan tunes? I'm guessing not, but I'm curious what one they'd pick if they did....

There's an interesting mix of music and song in this piece

The one on the proposed final episode of The Terminator storyline is not a bad idea at all.... ;-)

I don't actually know if they'd done any Bob Dylan songs, but their repertoire is so eclectic that nothing is safe.

I saw them at the Islington Folk Club in London a few years ago, before they were quite so famous, and it was a great evening's entertainment.

The UO of GB's stage act is full of wit and good humour, and their music is a skilful blend of parody and celebration. Their version of the Dambusters March, for example, is absolutely superb. The parody lies in the audacity of using a few ukes to play a hugely dynamic piece - the celebration is in their ability to pull it off and make it sound as good as the original.

I enjoyed it in recorded format. To see them live would be a total hoot.

One of the band members, Dave Suitch used to play at Folkmob and Knockholt with his other band Joe Bazouki & The Missing Puddings. They are fantastic too!

This may be close to what LH's first link went to (when it still went anywhere):

The utterly joyous sound of a ukulele orchestra playing Morricone’s ‘The Good, the Bad and the Ugly’

This was published January 7, 2021, so it's likely a new recording, but they may be the group who were in the earlier version.

The embedded YouTube video is dated 14 January 2010 and lists as source the DVD "Anarchy in the Ukulele" which seems to have been released in 2005. So this may well have been the version linked to by the original poster.
